NOW: Hakeem Jefferies speaks on Elon Musk and DOGE cuts to essential programs: “The average Social Security recipient lives on $65/day. Elon Musk right now has contracts with the federal government that make about $8 MILLION a day. If you want to go after waste, fraud and abuse, start right there”

The median would be a better measure of the “middle”. Distributions involving money are almost always skewed to the right.

is way more than I get and what a lot of people get, especially women who aren't living off a spousal benefit. At least I have a small pension, a full-time public sector job for which I am eligible for that pension if I can ever retire, and my SS benefit.

My "lifestyle" of upwards of $60k at age 70 can't be sustained. I am not looking forward to the day I have to quit my job.
