Excellent talk between Jeffrey Sachs and former finance minister of Greece, Yanis Varoufakis. Sachs explains in detail why the United States of America is going to lose the Trade War with China. Trump's tariffs are not going to work on China and more importantly, the US dollar's exorbitant privilege is going to diminish too. The discussion ends with Sachs describing the crazy talk circulating in Washington about a war over Taiwan which the US would inevitably lose, and which could lead to global annihilation.

(7,480 posts)1. Most of what these two speakers said was over my head, or at least was not comforting when it comes to Trump's actions..
.... I believe they see Trump not in any way winning a "war", economically or militarily, with China.

(27,582 posts)2. I don't know why people keep posting things by Jeffrey Sachs.
He and Yanis Varoufakis are both supporters/excusers of Putin's war against Ukraine, and I can't regard either of them of having any credibility whatsoever.
