Pakistan and India are always on a hair trigger. Maybe these articles will provide some context. It's never a good idea to have nuclear armed neighbors snarling at one another.

5. This conflict doesn't resonate in the west for several reasons

There’s little familiarity with the region and its history. There’s no religious link like there is for Christians and the “holy land”. This isn’t the I/P situation where the US government plays a large role.

Hell, I doubt most government officials have much of a clue what’s going on there. It may be best for the US to sit this out, aside from pressuring Pakistan more to crack down on anti Indian terrorism.
