It will take a week or two for the tariffs to actually affect the ports and shut them down down simply because existing transport for those shipments have already been scheduled and paid for. Last Saturday evening I saw one container ship waiting at anchorage to come into San Diego harbor when I went over the big blue Bridge to Coronado. I typically see three to five that time of night, plus a cruise ship or two - so it's fewer than normal, especially with Summer season getting ready to kick-off at the end of May.
Going to be a long, hot, and tense summer...
However, the number of ships in port and return cargo/emptied has decreased significantly.
