With all of the Trump pope talk, it's a good time to bring in St. Malachy's prophecy that there will be only 112 popes. Francis is counted as 112, but now people are messing with the prophecy to say the next one is the "last pope."
Supposedly St, Malachy predicted 900 years worth of popes in detail. The last one is supposed to be "Peter the Roman." There a couple of Peter's in contention and at least one is Italian.

Three things to watch for:
1. no pope is elected. That would be a prophetically bad sign.
2. The next one is named Peter, or chooses the name Peter (which has never happened before)
3. Some truly undesirable person gets it
Of course, the most likely thing is that nothing happens. Some guy gets elected. He lives and dies without fire, brimstone, and locusts.

(4,016 posts)There was an interval when there were two simultaneous popes. In fact, there was a point when there were three popes at the same time.
