Ukraine parliament must ratify deal framework before financing details can be agreed

Ukraine reporter

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has stated that as part of the agreement Ukraine will maintain control over its natural resources.
Shmyhal claims that the deal covers only future licenses and special permit for subsoil use.

The fund, he says, will invest in Ukraine’s recovery and development for 10 years.

According to the prime minister, both parties will have an equal ownership and make equal contribution to the fund.

He also says that once the deal is agreed, there will be two more “technical” documents to sign – one on the creation of the fund and another one on its financing.

The current “framework” agreement must be ratified by the Ukrainian parliament first.

Live update so scroll down a bit.

But the word is that now Trump is demanding that Ukraine be ready to sign all three deals immediately at the same time, which would be constitutionally and legally untenable.

It's a bit like Lucy and the ball. Finally, a deal emerges that isn't the worst Ukraine's been offered by Trump's camp, and now it looks like Trump wants to sabotage it. And no doubt blame Zelensky for stalling.

The rest of the world is watching the Turd break Amerika's agreements with its closest allies. Even agreements signed off by the Turd itself.

They seem to have gotten the clause out of the agreement that stipulated that proceeds from minerals sold under this deal had to repay a supposed bogus debt Ukraine owed for prior military aid from the U.S.

I suppose Ukraine thinks this will at least by them some time, that arms will keep flowing into Ukraine for the time being. I hope they are right.

Great Grandfather's farm in WV. He passed away back in 1919, the land was sold but the family keep the
mineral rights. Maybe things are different in Ukraine if the minerals can taken by a forighn country.

They will only reimburse for future aid and the mechanism will be a joint investment fund?

Let's remember Trump's initial offer: give us control of everything to reimburse us for all we've done so far.

The actual deal: We will set up a jointly controlled investment fund that will use mineral sales to reimburse for future military support.

How is this not Zelenskyy eating Trump's lunch?

Russia now has control of two of the three natural gas fields and a majority of the mineral deposits. I don't think Putin will give any of that up, maybe that's why the Mad Clown King has been mad at him lately.
