(5,773 posts)We have been asked to bring US flags if we have them. I have a BIG one; hope we don't get more of the gale force winds we have had. That flag was tough to hang on to at the last protest when we got big winds.

(52,951 posts)On April 5th my sign acted like a giant sail on a ship. I had to keep it angled in the right direction or else I'd have been swept away. Stupid me! It has been so long since I protested that I forgot this is a common occurrence. So I've gone back to what works best for me (5' 1/2" and 83 pounds) since I am small and lost 15 pounds of weight this past year due to tRump.
On April 5th I used a small dowel to attach my signs to, I always do 2 signs and tape them back to back...more bang for your buck that way. When I got home (very tired) I remembered my BIG dowel and signs that I had put behind my artwork and now it's revamped and ready to go tomorrow!
Dowels work very well if you want to give your hands a break. You can spin/twirl the signs easily and with comfort.
*I got out my American flag folded it and pinned it so it would be a cape. It allowed my hands to be free to carry my heavy duty signs. It doesn't blow as much that way. Do you carry your flag upside down, like a distress signal?

(5,773 posts)The old campaign signs are sturdier than cardboard and the aluminum H sign holders offered great stability for the new protest signs we made and taped to the campaign signs. (Hint: Gorilla tape is unbeatable) The H frames made it easy to hold on and flip our double message signs.
The wind was so vicious here on the 19th that my daughter's shoulders have been aching since then.
I am not gonna try to manage a sign AND my really big US flag this time. Wind is generally pretty nasty here in April & May and I am not as strong as I used to be. So daughter got me a couple of 'protest tee shirts' for upcoming events. She's the best daughter ever.

(52,951 posts)I just watched the local weather report and the wind doesn't seem to be a problem, only a light drizzle is possible.
Glad to hear your daughter is a treasure...that's wonderful!
