Those swing-state Democrats voting for the Laken Riley Act now seems like it was all for nothing
They voted for it so they wouldn't be outflanked by Republicans on immigration, only for Republicans (and Trump, specifically) to take the immigration issue to whole new ridiculous level and outflank them anyway.
Understandably, they tried to look "centered" and "reasonable" on immigration, but Republicans managed to move the Overton Window of what looks "centered" and "reasonable" on immigration to the point where the votes on the Laken Riley Act don't even register.
