There is likely to be a shortage this year and they will be very expensive.

The Chinese invented fireworks 🎆 you know.

I see lots of home fireworks dealers along the east coast. If those pyrotechnics come from China, I see your point.

Thanks again for the clarification.

Happy May Day.

Hoping the idiots in my area would rather spend the money on beer & burgers this year.

Aside from the trauma the damned things cause our pets, I live where there is a lot of wildlife that also gets terrified, rugged terrain to work brush fires that too often get started by fireworks, and LOTS of veterans, some who are badly affected by the noise of fireworks.

Those cool drone light shows are much more enjoyable and probably won't start fires and PTSD attacks.

They're dangerous, noisy and obtrusive not to mention kind of dumb.

A couple of years ago, a father-to-be in NE Pennsylvania (where we have a house) decided to have a fireworks display for their about-to-be born baby's gender-reveal party. Yes, there is such a thing!

The man and his brother decided to have a practice run of the fireworks display they would set off during the party. They set up their arsenal and set it off. Unfortunately, the pyrotechnics weren't set up properly and one of the rockets killed the father. So the kid will grow up fatherless. All for a stupid party! How pointless.

The worst part is he died after he had procreated so he doesn't get a Darwin Award.

US flags stuck in the sand.
On the day we celebrate our independence we might be better served by spending the day cleaning and refurbishing this land which provides such abundance. Land pollution, noise pollution, air pollution, and water pollution; it’s a hell of a way to celebrate the land we supposedly love.

20 Reasons Why Everything is Made in China (2025 Update)
https://www.allamericanmade.com/why-is-everything-made-in-china/

Of course, the most profitable thing ever out of China is reportedly silk. Do they even make it any more?

Nowadays, most fireworks are made in China, 96% of total U.S. fireworks imports.

Maybe we'll have some MAGA Ya Hoos go into business and liven light up the industry themselves, stateside this year.

However I can't stand all the patriotic bull that goes along with them in many places.

I do detest them being set off other than in a controlled situation, generally by the fire department.

so I imagine people are saving last year's leftovers for the big day. Usually we hear them every weekend as they come home after the bars close and (I guess) celebrate not being popped for DWI.

My cats hated it as much as your dogs do. I was a nurse and had to deal with the inevitable outcome of a holiday combining alcohol and explosives, so it's not my favorite holiday. I won't cry into my pillow if it's subdued this year.

people start setting off fireworks in the middle of June, and keep it up to the middle of July. It's impossible to know which day is the actual 4th.

all night with a dog that would not go outside to pee because she was terrified of the fireworks. We lived near a minor league baseball stadium, in Lancaster, PA, that had fireworks every-time they had a game during baseball season. It was awful.
Fortunately, we no longer live there and now she’s deaf. But, those fireworks made for stressful
And sleepless nights. And, the 4th of July wherever we lived was always tough. Again, the only positive thing about now having a deaf dog is she can’t hear them now.
