I am so confused. I am trying to figure out the status of Bisignano's nomination at SSA.

I read his nomination passed cloture today. But I thought it takes 60 votes to pass cloture, and thereby cease debate.

I have conflicting information about when a final vote is scheduled. In one place I read that it is scheduled for tomorrow (Fri May 2). In another place I read it is scheduled for Tuesday May 6th.

Does anyone here have any clarification on this?

We need to do everything we can to keep him away from Social Security. He lied to Congress - that's a crime. And he is a Vulture Capitalist. His Vulture Capitalist buddies are already embedded at SSA. I am ready to make more calls.

1. No filibuster on nominees. They just need a simple majority to pass cloture

That's why all the horrible cabinet members were able to be approved.

On November 21, 2013, Majority Leader Harry Reid raised a point of order that "the vote on cloture under Rule XXII for all nominations other than for the Supreme Court of the United States is by majority vote." The presiding officer overruled the point of order, and the Senate voted 48–52 against sustaining the decision of the chair. The Senate therefore set a precedent that cloture can be invoked on nominations (except to the Supreme Court) by a simple majority, even though the plain text of the rule requires "three-fifths of the senators duly chosen and sworn" to invoke cloture. Three Democrats (Carl Levin, Joe Manchin and Mark Pryor) voted with all Republicans in favor of sustaining the decision of the chair. The text of Rule XXII was never changed.

3. Well, all Democrats who were present voted NO on cloture. All Republicans voted YES

I'm confident all 47 Democrats will vote NO in the final vote, but unfortunately, the fact that 50 Republicans voted for cloture, it pretty much guarantees he will be approved. I don't believe a single Republican has voted YES on Cloture but No on the final vote for any nominees so far.
