Update: Please reread my post. Many commented that I’m depressed or have given up!

I remain hopeful. Read the last paragraph. I’m alerting people that we need to prepare for a long difficult road ahead. This will not be resolved in two years by winning the House. There is a large, entrenched anti-democratic and powerful force that will not disappear. We need to be strong and resilient. Yes, vote! I’ve volunteered to register new voters. I’m not giving up. Dear Friends,
I have predicted that we will loose our nation by summer when #47 won the election, I’ve been sounding the alarm when he began to win primaries in 2024. Many told me that I was going overboard with my criticism.

Today - every headline, executive order, statement coming from the Administration has confirmed my worst fears. And it’s much worse than I could have imagined. Also, there is so much we don’t know, that’s being done in the shadows.

The coup is in the FINAL Stages, a constitutional crisis is being ignored by the legacy media, corporations are lackeys of a lying, cruel mobster. And more. Every day more.

Most of this is not reversible. The red states are emboldened to interfere with voting rights, install christo-nationalism in public schools, punish the poor and crack down on peaceful assembly.

We need to face the fact that the country is divided and will not unite.

The republican voters actually don’t support the constitution or rule of law. They think a dictator who enriches himself through bribes, scams and shady deals with foreign enemies is A-OK. They are completely in lockstep with the lies, propaganda, and hatefulness. They are angry, bitter, and unwilling to engage in critical thinking. We are the enemy. Yes, they harass and threaten us and worse.

I’m not going to stop my advocacy, volunteer work and participating in rallies. I’m here for the duration.
This will be a generational struggle to defend our constitution and our liberties.
Please talk to your children and grandkids.

Find your tribe. You will need local support from friends and neighbors. I expect that the government will shut down websites such as this at some point.

It will get worse.

What can save us? It will not be the courts or Congress. There is a small chance that our military may step up. But, I don’t expect that to happen. We can only preserve our sanity and ideals by being faithful to the Constitution.
Don’t bend the kneel, avoid confrontation, if you need to be silent to stay safe -do it. At every opportunity, help others, show compassion and maintain your human dignity as a beacon for others.

But the many of us that don't see a country where nearly half the citizens favor, praise, and worship Trump, at least enough to elect him. And that's the reason why many of our former allies do not trust us because they elected him as President and could do it again with the next Trump because even if we survive this one, another one will be coming.

I’m active and am involved in many community activities and with family/friends .

so easily? Study the revolutionary war and become familiar
with every time it looked like the colonists were out.
Did they quit? No they kept fighting for what they believed
in.

Do not overestimate your enemies. that is what they want.

I did read your post. We are mostly in agreement,
except that your headline and some of what you
express contradicts your deeper message. It is

know if it will be short or long until this seizure of

I’ve been through many challenges in life and I’m comfortable with uncertainty and having to defend/protect myself and others. I’ve often stood up against powerful people. For me, it’s been important to take an assessment of the risks and be prepared when people may attack or undermine my efforts. That means that I have to look at what people are doing and how that may escalate into a threat. I’ve come through on the other side and helped others, too.

I’m not trying to scare people, I’m committed to continue calling voters, writing letters , etc.

I started my own group and am connected with several local and national progressive organizations.

I’m preparing for a long March and trying to help others steel themselves for a difficult future,

I hope that I’m wrong. But, my training and instincts usually have been valuable and have led to success.

3. Sorry Ben, it doesn't look like we could keep it but we had a good run.

How embarrassing to lose our Republic to someone like Trump. If only we had been more vigilant but our sin was one of national pride. We thought we were too good and great of a nation to crumble so quickly because that only happens to those lesser countries, not the great and powerful US of A.

Had we been more vigilant in the years before Trump, this like would not have happened.
But we were complacent and overconfident, thinking the magas were just a bunch of stupid losers crying about a lost election we underestimated them and now they are having the last laugh.

18. Actually, I've not been complacent....

I have been sounded the alarm continuously:

1) when Reagan ended the fairness doctrine in 1987
2) when George W Bush signed the Patriot Act in 2001
2) when SCOTUS decided on the Citizens United lawsuit in 2010

This all started with Ronnie Raygun, I was paying attention, and still am.

Trump is taking our country down a dark and dangerous path. Sadly, far too many Americans don't seem to be aware of the dangers or don't even care.

We've bought an apartment overseas as a possible escape plan. Everyone should prepare themselves for the coming debacle.

19. Yes the GOP has spent the last 60 years

Becoming first a right center party, before totally losing itself to essentially influences and celebrities. It isn't so much a political party as a social influencing party where each year they have to one up last year to keep up the likes and follows. Nothing is too outrageous, nothing beneath them. Their base doesn't embrace liberalism, conservatism, libertarianism or even fascism. It embraces whatever fucking thing is trending on their Twitter and tictoc feed. They would literally vote for Putin if tictoc and Fox news told them too.
