at FOTUS' failed birthday party as our military parades. You cannot make this up!
I did not edit this, this is the actual parade with the actual music being played.

(11,108 posts)The song, released during the peak period of the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War, is not explicit in its criticism of that war in particular, rather, it "speaks more to the unfairness of class than war itself," and the children of the wealthy being able to avoid the draft, according to its writer, John Fogerty.

1. Trump looks bored.
2. Melania looks...well...like she usually does. Vacant.
3. Do our troops no longer march in step?
4. Playing CCR's "Fortunate Son" is either some advanced level trolling or some advanced level cluelessness.
Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Hoo, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief"
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no furtunate one, no
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, Lord?
But when the taxman come to the door
Lord, the house lookin' like a rummage sale, yeah
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Yeah-yeah, some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
Hoo, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask 'em, "How much should we give?"
Hoo, they only answer, "More, more, more, more"
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son, son, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no, no, no

Fortunate Son lyrics © Jondora Music, Shanty Kelyn Music, Concord Copyrights
Here's a breakdown of the key elements:
"Some folks are born, made to wave the flag, ooh, they're red, white and blue":
.
This line introduces the theme of inherited privilege and the idea that some people are automatically associated with patriotism due to their background.
"And when the band plays 'Hail to the Chief,' ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord":
.
This line suggests that those in power, often from wealthy families, benefit from the system while ordinary citizens bear the brunt of its consequences.
"It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son":
.
This recurring refrain emphasizes that the singer, and by extension, many others, are not part of the privileged elite and are not exempt from the draft.
"Some folks inherit star-spangled eyes, ooh, they send you down to war":
.
This line implies that those with inherited wealth and status are more likely to avoid conflict, while those from less privileged backgrounds are more likely to be sent to war.
"And when the band plays 'Hail to the Chief,' ooh, they point the cannon at you":
.

Genius Annotation
As one of the most famous protest songs of the Vietnam War era, Fortunate Son revives this timeless message with the snarl and swagger of the 1960s righteous rock and roll.
As John Fogerty put it:
Julie Nixon was hanging around with David Eisenhower, and you just had the feeling that none of these people were going to be involved with the war. In 1968, the majority of the country thought morale was great among the troops, and eighty percent of them were in favor of the war. But to some of us who were watching closely, we just knew we were headed for trouble.
As explained by John Fogerty, this song is the birthchild in a time of extreme distrust for executive authority. John describes the callousness of then president Richard Nixon and his arrogance towards young people. I have included this short video through which John Fogerty summarizes the reasons for this songs creation.

What did Creedence Clearwater Revival say about "Fortunate Son"?
Genius Answer
In his memoir Fortunate Son: My Life, My Music, Fogerty wrote:
Julie Nixon was dating David Eisenhower. Youd hear about the son of this senator or that congressman who was given a deferment from the military or a choice position in the military. They seemed privileged and whether they liked it or not, these people were symbolic in the sense that they werent being touched by what their parents were doing. They werent being affected like the rest of us.

(821 posts)in its modern sense.
There are historical definitions, but over the last few decades, I've heard a modern meaning. It's when the boss is an incredibly egotistical moron who won't listen to anybody. (Sound familiar?) They are insisting on some course of action that will result in some form of disaster and won't accept any data or advice that indicates otherwise.
The white mutineer, having had enough, steps back and says 'Ok, we'll do it your way". And does absolutely everything they're directed to do, to the letter, while documenting every single direction from this incompetent dweeb. The results are entirely predictable and the boss ends up with egg on their face. With any luck, they have bosses of their own who will not be happy. At minimum, they'll be a laughingstock among their peers.
It can be very satisfying.

I havent seen marching that bad since the movie Stripes. It just looks sloppy and undisciplined.
