(14,042 posts)murky territory. They could either be waiting to charge - or, they have nothing that really connects ....
Having a passport on hand is not illegal. (similarly if the guns were illegal, and arrest would definitely been made) And - a plan to absent oneself from the area (or even the country) if capable - does not sound like an unreasonable response on the part of 'family members' ? Who's really looking forward to what comes next .. ?

"Police found what they believe is a vehicle belonging to the suspect, Vance Boelter, 57, in Sibley County, about an hours drive southwest of where Saturdays shootings occurred. Officials have pleaded for help from the public, offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Mr. Boelters arrest, while at the same time urging caution, saying that he was believed to be armed, dangerous and willing to kill."

(15,744 posts)My guess is she knows where he is. She went home to get the money, gun, ammo and passports. The police followed her. Now they are explaining to her what accessory after the fact means to her. She knows, at the very least, where he is. My guess is that she knew what he was going to do and was all in.

(10,423 posts)Police don't have the power to "detain" anyone for questioning. They can ask you to answer questions, but if you don't want to the police either have to arrest and charge you or let you go. They can't demand you go anywhere or stay anywhere because they want to question you.

(2,454 posts)They are watching her every move, though. You can be sure of that.
So they said she was in a car with family members. And passports and a gun.
Is that something that one randomly travels with?

(10,423 posts)They can watch her all they want. But there is no law forbidding people from carrying their passport, and since they didn't charge her with a,gun law violation I can only assume the gun was legal.
