Very few people read the newspapers.
Both network and cable TV (outside of RW media) have been giving the No King protests wide coverage and the same is true of social media.
The No King protests were a huge success.

(33 posts)I attended the No Kings protest in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and there was a massive crowd of 4,000 people who showed up for that event, which had to be close to a record turnout for a political protest/demonstration. Lancaster city is blue but Lancaster County is still deep red and went big for Trump in 2016, 2020 and 2024.
The protest/rally was both energizing and inspiring to see this level of political engagement. This was grassroots democracy in action! The speakers at this event were awesome - several veterans who lambasted Trump for firing thousands of veterans who worked for the VA and other civil service jobs and for cutting their benefits. An LGBTQ minister who recently accepted a position at a UCC church in Lancaster also gave an inspiring speech as did a number of other speakers.
It has been reported that as many as 11 million patriotic Americans who love this country showed up nationwide yesterday to stand up for our democracy, while Trump's military parade was a big flop. This gives me new hope that the power of the people will prevail over the wave of evil that has swept over our country.

(4,590 posts)I saw a LOT of cars driving by that had No Kings-type signs hanging out their widows, the folks waving to us. These were people who were completely on our side side, but for whatever reason, didn't want to stand on the sidewalk yesterday.
I was really energized by them!

(33 posts)This is not an overstatement. Yesterday the streets and town commons were filled with people actively displaying unconditional support for others. In other words, true Americans.

(7,809 posts)Here I am talking about people like Gov. DeSantis, who urged people to drive into the protestors if they felt threatened.
First, why would people be driving into the area occupied by protestors? That is just looking for trouble.
The scorecard I have heard is cars drove into protestors in Virginia, Atlanta, and California (2). This is something new at this level, so it means that DeSantis has blood on his hands for encouraging such behaviour. There was also a fatal shooting in Utah. I likely missed some violent incidents as well. This doesn't even include the fatal shooting in Minnesota the previous day.
Nearly all, if not all, of this violence came from the right.
