Coming from the dental cleaning and I stopped at the grocery

store. Stew meat was $8.49/lb. A couple of little strips of farm raised salmon was $11.99/12 ounces. Over in the produce section some little mini red-skin potatoes were $4.99/lb. They were trying to move pre-cut fruit trays for half price that were 2 days past the sell by date. The cheapest sliced ham in the deli was oozing water and cure for $7.59/lb. I didn't bite.

My breakfast at McWasteland the other day consisted of a sandwich and 2 of the cheap burritos. Cost me $9.99. The way prices are going my next cleaning should go easy since I don't think grass clippings lead to tartar buildup.

1. Just Wait

Everything will be great. We will be the greatest nation ever in the history of the universe. One of these days. Just wait. The price of tuna is sneaking up. That’s my gauge as I stroll through the grocery store. Any day now.

5. If you don't like beans and rice, you probably better learn to do so.

Fortunately, I can be a lacto-vegetarian (along with some fish when available) if need be, able to eat any bean other than Lima Beans--uggh...

But, if you are going for rice, Indian rice (yes, really) has much lower arsenic levels than US-albeit Calfornia levels are reasonable. So, tariffs... (enough said)

and I leave it on "warm" for a couple of days after the first one and it gets thicker and more savory each day. Great stuff from this company.

9. WE do lots of beans, rice, and pasta here. Meat is an ancillary ingredient, when I can afford it.

12. Love Lima Beans

I’ve never understood why people hate lima beans. I’ve never had them fresh, canned, or dried, but frozen lima beans boiled in water and served with plenty of butter, salt, and pepper are delicious. You do have to be careful not to overcook them or they get mushy. I sometimes eat a box of frozen lima beans alone for lunch or dinner. Now brussel sprouts…

15. You can definitely have mine, but you answered your own question...

Those who have been presented with them and required by some adult to eat them--boiled until mushy-- and that SMELL... Uggh. I can still remember the nausea that overcame me, and never again. It's not even like overcooked broccoli (the latter, which I like, albeit cooked correctly). Maybe if the introduction had been a properly cooked Lima Bean, but...

They are healthy, though, so enjoy!

8. I went to the store today, too.

$239.00 for a week's worth of food for the three of us (with meat covered for only 2 days). They had something they called a "Tomahawk" steak. I'd never seen it before. The bone was huge, true... but there really wasn't that much "steak" attached to it. The price was $59 (for one!).

I'd hope to pick up a bit of fresh pecorino-romano, but had to put it back when I saw it's price tag of $17.00. It really wasn't a huge piece, really enough for two recipes I've got.

I guess we should be glad they sell us food after all. I mean, when will that stop for us democrats?

10. My online Sunday ordering experience from Von's.

I did some online ordering from Von's on Sunday for delivery -- I pretty much purchased my usual stuff and all of it was either on sale or there was a Von's digital coupon for the item -- I noticed that what used to cost $70 bucks 2 months ago now costs $90 bucks and that's $90 bucks after all the discounts and coupons are subtracted. That same $90 bucks stuff was $50 bucks last Fall when Joe Biden was President. Von's still doesn't have the Fly by Jing Golden Peppercorn oil which I have been trying to get for the past couple of months.

11. I buy the cheaper cuts of meat

And then I use a gadget to tenderize the hell out of it. Once the tough fibers are cut the steak relaxes, flattens out, and and gets longer. Then, I cut the steak into 3-4 ounce servings and freeze a couple of pieces for later in the week.

For me, chicken is cheap so I buy either a package of chicken legs or thighs. I freeze most of them and keep a couple fresh pieces for later.

better (cheaper) than Costco. You do have to buy like 10 pounds at a time; no, I haven't tried them yet but I know they are an option.
