New report said SS has 8 years of solvency. Shouldn't we be looking to convert illegal aliens to citizens instead

of deporting them? All the otherwise law-abiding citizens. They won't put as much in, but they won't take as much out either.

Either the old have to die off faster or we need to add more replacements. Right or wrong?

…a word-processor. Yes, typing.

That was a long time ago. She had to train her own overseas replacements more than once. She changed course by becoming a technical writer, and is now retired.

But with that in mind, imagine all the fired civil servants with suburban houses or city condos, with their kids in good public schools, being offered new far-away careers stripping beds in motels or doing stoop-labor in the fields or even better — meat processing from slaughter to packing to cleaning the kill-floors at night.

Yeah, that’s the ticket. Mass firings of skilled federal workers, bankruptcy and loss of their homes, the kids going hungry — that will make Americans willing to take “those” jobs. In fact, and this is the real beauty of the MAGAGOP plan, Sarah Huckabee Sanders has pointed out that even young teens would be “proud” to help their parents put food on the table by working in factories on the night shift, and still be able to go to school in the daytime.

I find the current administration's definition of "undocumented" disturbing. If you're awaiting an immigration hearing as an asylum seeker or not, you've become documented - and if you're out on the streets, you've usually been granted an ESTA, a 90 day temporary visa that requires renewal - and won't allow you to work unless you also have an EAD.
On edit: people here on temporary, work or student visas are being accused of being here illegally, because those visas and EAD (Employment Authorization Document) are supposedly so easy to get...
Kidnapping people already in the immigration system who are going to a caseworker or returning from a court hearing and just deporting them without an official determination is not the same as sending someone back across the border after catching them on "climbing the fence" without I.D.
There's a lot of naturalized citizens in the US whose English is weak. Likewise, a lot of several generations back citizens have strong accents and speak in a Creole due to the historic nature of the location they grew up in
-"What are the English translations of the state capital cities Sacramento and Santa Fe?"
- "Did you know La Brea means The Tar Pit, so La Brea Tar Pit translates to The Tar Pit Tar Pits?"
Border politics are by nature as racist as whatever Administration is pushing them.

Get rid of the income limits on SS taxation.

There was a year in which my SS taxes stopped in February. The next year it was March. Pissed me off to no end. Don’t worry it didn’t last. But paying 7.5% more in taxes the entire year would not have harmed me at all. Wouldn’t hurt any high earners.

But the corporations. They hate payroll taxes. There are no exemptions. They have to be paid or there are stiff fines and sometimes people go to jail.

Made 0 sense and still doesn’t.

But will the Republicans allow that to happen? Hell no. We can’t let common sense and rationality infect government.

…of the filthy lie about undocumented people living off the rest of us. In order to work they have false SSNs — they pay in but cannot receive benefits. Big corporations know this full well at hiring.

Having dealt with that issue, please understand that boomers have already taken several hits to our SS benefits.

The fact is this: IF billionaires paid their fair share, SS and all the rest would be fully funded forever. But billionaires do not.

They've commenced repaying them and in 7-8 years, those run out.

The debt will just be shifted from government-held to public-held, though.

As it stands, immigrants working with false SS numbers are already getting SS deducted from their paychecks, but they can never claim it when they're elderly. As another poster pointed out, it's around $90 billion annually.

Giving them all citizenship means they can then start to collect SS at 62.

In a perverse way, keeping them illegal keeps SS solvent for the rest of us longer.

and our party needs to run on this across the board.

Return to the tax rates of the Ike administration of 91% on those in the highest tax bracket.
Secondly we have to lift the cap on Social Security. Who's brilliant idea was that to even begin with? Silliness.

And we need our party to run on these things loudly & proudly. We already know that the wealthy in this country have so many breaks when it comes to taxes that they effectively pay zero. Well, let's end that.
