Celebrating the 4th of July?

How will you celebrate your Independence from the tyranny of the rule of one man ? Ask your friends and family do they feel like they are being ruled by the will of the people or the whims of one man? If you do plan on Celebrating Independence Day this year what are you celebrating exactly? Hear One man is supposed to dec8 if we go to war or not in a " couple weeks" then a few more weeks One man is supposed to decide if you pay more tax or not , so how are you celebrating your " Independence" this year?

Very subdued, to be exact. I opted out to not attend my annual Sci-Fi convention due to my husband's recent death and spend some of that with my family near by. I am still in the throes of filling out forms to make sure the monies he was getting, come to me other than Social Security Survivor's benefits.

The questions are, HOW WILL THE 250TH ANNIVERSARY of America's Independence play out in 2026?
Will it be like June 14th with little pomp and circumstance for the big bucks it took to put that fiasco on?

I am more concerned about July 4th, 2026 than in a few weeks.

I do not think the 250th will be on the same magnitude, regardless of the political climate.

Society has changed a great deal in the past fifty years. Also, a 250-year mark is not as interesting as a centennial mark with regard to any anniversary. I think any hype next year is going to be laughed off. Companies will realize that there will be no return from investing in such hype.

They usually have a big grill-out with the mayors of Düsseldorf and Köln attending, right on the river bank. There aren’t many Republicans Abroad here in the Rheinland, and almost no Germans here in NRW like Trump, anyway. It should be sympathetic crowd.

Might go over to dhs' daughters house ( she doesn't live to far away), or may just stay home. Although used to love going to the big displays near us, we stopped because of the traffic issues.

And will continue to have their cookouts, wave their flags, and watch fireworks shows, because that’s what the 4th of July means to them.

There is no Independence to celebrate, Independence of what? Taxation without representation, done by one man , or war started by one man , your tax dollars spent and constitutional law are dictated to you not the other way around.
