Tom Nichols just posted: I am very, very happy to be wrong, I'm glad especially to see independents split on this. I was pretty sure the protests would create a more even split, but Trump being down 15 points on this one issue tells me I was too worried.
Harry Enton commented on CNN "I think we can say Donald Trump has lost the political battle when it comes to what has happened in Los Angeles. Trump's net approval rating on LA- way, way underwater at -15 points....this is happening on what should be on Donald Trump's best issue...he's losing his core issue."
The No Kings protests are twenty times as big as the Tea Party protests were. They should be receiving 20 times the coverage. They're not. But at least the public is responding and that's good news!

(22,626 posts)I posted this because I needed a positivity boost and I thought others might too. I was feeling overwhelmed and angry (the angry part is justified and I see it as warranted) but the overwhelmed is not constructive. I hope others feel a little encouraged when they see the effects that the protests had!

(22,626 posts)and I use with each other when one or the other is doing something mildly irritating. I find it an amusing term, but he, at true child of the 70's and the rock culture, claimed to have never heard it before I used it. Now it's our little hint to each other that we may want to tone it down a little.

(12,745 posts)You should hear some of the things that street addicts say to us when we would use Narcan on them and pull them back from an O.D. .....LOL
They are suddenly very aware of the fact that we wasted their last dime bag's high.....Before injecting the Narcan, we would put a FF or EMT on each of their legs and arms because they are VERY angry with you......and come up swinging.......

(8,655 posts)tiny bits of marshmallows (smaller than chocolate chips but larger than nonpareils) to garnish cakes and maybe ice cream are a thing.

(8,655 posts)but it might make them too hard. You could easily s[rinkle them straight from the container and chocolate sprinkles to that. Doon't decide until yu actually see them.

(28,030 posts)News covered "protests" of a few busloads of old people with brand new Tea Party T-shirts and brand new manufactured signs to stand around for the cameras for awhile before getting back on the buses. Ridiculous.

(22,626 posts)and so is dangerous. The corporate media has been in the RW pocket for decades now.

(12,745 posts)the U.S. Media 45+ years ago.......It is almost entirely owned/operated by Uber Rich Republicans at this point.....
One of Hitlers first moves was taking control of all the German media.
I am just waiting for the ENTIRE Republican owned/operated Media to get kicked to the curb and outlawed when Trump no longer needs them, and declares FOX news the only government authorized STATE OWNED MEDIA, like Pravda in Russia......
He has made his entire life about Using, Abusing, and kicking those who helped him, and worshipped him to the curb.......
Since the election, he hasp already begun trashing on his own voters......now that he not longer needs them ever again........
He will do it to the Media
And the best of all will be when he shit cans the U.S. House representatives, the U.S. Senators, and the USSC justices......due to the fact
that there is NO Legislative or Judicial Branch needed in a Tyranny/Dictatorship.....LOL
it was grassroots - but basically only in that it showed how small and specialized its lawn was. I mean, those people did exist - I knew one or two - but even in a very red county like mine they were not that large a force.
I remember "Coffee Party" was started in opposition to is, but doesn't appear to have lasted. Now that all the MAGAts have their knickers in knots about "woke" might be a good time to bring it back or start it over.

(6,903 posts)You nailed it! The staged and corporate funded tea party rabid ragefests were created by, funded by, and artificially hyped by the corporate medias owners like the Koch brothers et al, to push their preferred narrative that interfering with the lethal industry of extorting money from and then denying health care to working people was socialism, but had little grass roots support among those suffering under that system as a result. Here the precise opposite is occurring where our genuine and rapidly growing grass roots movement reflects the true sentiment of We The People which is at odds with the overt fascist objectives of the current media ownership class like Bezos, et al. Thus the media tries its hardest to ignore it, minimize it or scare people with agitprop of phantom hordes of looters 🙀Except We The People on the ground in our communities know the truth because we live it, whereas establishment stenographers like Nichols who parrot the conventional wisdom which, frankly, is shorthand for manufactured corporate narrative, only grudgingly are forced to acknowledge the incontrovertible reality theyve been conditioned to denigrate because its become too powerful to ignore. ✊🏼💪🏼✊🏼

(10,285 posts)had nearly constant coverage of the No Kings Protest when they weren't talking about the assassination in MN. Even during trump's crappy birthday parade, IF they showed it, it was often a split screen showing protests on one side and the parade on the other. They made a point to show the nearly empty bleachers at the parade and compared the crowd there with the crowds at the protests.
Every Monday night following protests, on Rachel's show, she makes a point to show snippets of the protests with photos and videos from all over the country... even in smaller cities and towns, and red ones.
I worry that we will lose this one station that is normally pretty supportive if we don't watch it more. The powers that be worry about viewership and $$$$ and if we're not watching, they're going to put out something else.

(22,626 posts)no coverage on MSNBC or anywhere else. What a bizarre statement. I very clearly said there was not twenty times the coverage of the tea party movement in spite of the fact that the protests were twenty times as big. I don't usually respond to straw man arguments, but wow.

(5,651 posts)read your entire OP when I responded. I had not memorized so I didn't realize you had not asked a question. My bad. I think you kinda overreacted.
You know what, I'm going to delete all the other responses I've put in this thread. Then I suggest that we both mutually put each other on ignore. Because, frankly, I don't need this shit right now.

(14 posts)It never ceases to amaze me that the reporting on those problems have the connective tissue of sentences like, they should be receiving 20 times the coverage.
I dont think democratic messaging is the problem as much as narrative control by a complicit media.
