Is 3 days within 2 weeks?
As one pundit put it yesterday, saying "within 2 weeks" leads to ambiguity--maybe there's up to two weeks! Which means something much less carries just a small bit of surprise.
Probably not in this case, to be sure, but everybody seemed to think that increased preparations would be necessary as that two week window came to a close. Not that there was a two-week window and any time it was open a bomber could fly through it.
Trump's ambiguity is sometimes infuriating. But he's usually more ambiguous than what he says would imply. (Although there's a lot of "I might" utterances taken to mean "I certainly will," then when "might" turns out to mean "might not" there's all kinds of comments. As I've said before, "X may happen" logically entails "X may not happen."
