I'm going to the ER... update....

Last edited Tue Jul 22, 2025, 10:06 PM - Edit history (2)

Sorry if it's not the right forum or place. I called a friend at work and she's coming over here to get me cuz I can't drive and I too scared to call the ambulance and go by myself

https://www.democraticunderground.com/10182203313

Doctor called the pharmacy and my regular practitioner and they all decided that I should be okay they monitored my blood pressure in my heart rate for about an hour and he told me that I was probably anxious because of the lack of anxiety and depression medicine and that he wanted to put my mind at ease and let me know that he didn't think I was going to have a heart attack

the pharmacist should have insisted on your going to the ER and arranged a way for you to get there. His main concern should not have been getting his pills back, but rather your safety.

You definitely need to be checked out after everything your body and brain have been through.

And I hate to say it, but it's documentation. You will need that if you follow through with a lawsuit. If it were me, I would definitely be suing the pharmacy/pharmacist.

But right now, the most important thing is that you feel better. And I hope that happens soon!

but my two meds do not remotely resemble each other. In fact, all my meds are pretty much very different in appearance. Not that that is an excuse for the pharmacy - it isn't. That was criminal carelessness. But in your position, I'd be talking with my doctor about getting a different drug, or maybe even a different generic, for one or the other of them, so I could see very fast if this happened - just for self-preservation.

Cymbalta is a blue and white capsule and amlodipine is a very small tablet and I noticed that the quote unquote cymbalta that they gave me was a tablet and I thought it was odd but then again I'm on Medicare and they give you generics so I thought maybe that's why it wasn't until I was feeling this shitty and decided to check this morning that I realized the mistake!

and I have never seen anything so small in ,my life. So small it can get caught on the tongue and start to dissolve before it makes it to the throat. I'm also on Medicare BTW. - have Part D with Humana from a former employer and use their pharmacy except for the one thing I take that Medicare won't cover. So far the only problem I have had with their pharmacy was not their fault and they are making good on it. I hope your pharmacy will make good on this for you (and compensate you in some acceptable way - acceptable to you, I mean.)

Hope you are taken care of quickly and properly, and on the road to full recovery soon. In the interim, I send prayers of calm and clarity for you as I know that ER visits are no picnic and come with tremendous stress. May you have good caregivers who are compassionate, knowledgeable and kind.

Please keep us posted.

Will your friend be able to stay with you tonight? Since you mentioned feeling woozy as you walked to the bathroom, do you have a walker for a little more stability? Are you Carrefour cellphone on you on those bathroom trips?

My girlfriend had to go home to her family but I'm at least feeling a little more balanced now that I'm not so anxious and worried and I'm going to lay down now and try to feel normal again in the morning.

Doctor said he spoke to the pharmacist and he spoke to my doctor and came in and told me that I'm basically just feeling withdrawals from the antidepressant and anxiety meds and that it'll take another 24 to 48 hours for that to soak in

They told me to take my regular meds tonight except for the amlodipine blood pressure medicine and then tomorrow back to normal. They monitored my heart rate and stuff blood pressure for about an hour.

I'm home and fed the cats and laid down I still don't feel normal but at least I'm not as anxious worrying about what could possibly go wrong but that was very scary and I'm not going to let it go somebody's going to have hell to pay

Hopefully the off-effects well keep diminishing over a day or so if I read this correctly, and you'll rebalance w your proper meds. 👍
I will check other post
ETA seems this ER one is the earliest one listed.

and having gotten the help you needed. Stay relaxed with your kitties. Remember that you can always share your thoughts here where it’s safe and people are sympathetic. Some of them may even be going through something similar, either because of a loved one or their own personal experiences.
