Mr. Evil
(3,367 posts)that never matured beyond the age of 12. Raised by an avowed racist slumlord. He literally believes he's the smartest person on the planet when in reality it's the exact opposite. And, the ultra morons (MAGA doofus idiots) that voted for and still worship him are living, breathing, talking examples of the Dunning Kruger effect in real time.

(12,533 posts)Every single one of my grandkids, even the most disadvantaged one, was more mature at 12 than he is. I'd peg him at about age 4. IF that!

(5,428 posts)A new psychological study has found that people who report favorable views of Donald Trump also tend to score higher on measures of callousness, manipulation, and other malevolent traitsand lower on empathy and compassion. The findings, based on two large surveys of U.S. adults, shed light on how personality traits relate to political beliefs, including support for Trump and conservative ideology. The research was recently published in the Journal of Research in Personality.
snip
The researchers conducted the study to better understand the psychological traits that underlie political ideology, particularly support for Donald Trump and conservative beliefs. Prior work had already linked conservative ideology with right-wing authoritarianism and social dominance, but the researchers hypothesized that malevolent personality traits might also play a roleespecially given Trumps rhetoric and behavior, which often display dominance, callousness, and disregard for social norms.
snip
This paper was several years in the making, starting as a result of the 2016 election, and was designed to address why some people might view favorably a political figure with a history of business failures, bankruptcies, misogynistic statements caught on video, use of charity money for a self-portrait, etc, explained study author Craig Neumann, a Regents Professor of Psychology at the University of North Texas.

The phrase, "No shit, Sherlock," comes to mind. I don't think one needs a doctoral degree in psychology, or the results of a years' long study to come to this conclusion.

"A psychotic loop, in the context of mental health, refers to a cycle of worsening psychotic symptoms, often driven by a feedback loop involving brain activity and symptom severity. It's not a formal diagnostic term but rather a concept describing how psychotic experiences can intensify and perpetuate themselves. "

I don't expect most of those people to "vote Democrat",
but a few of them will....
I expect MORE of them to fail to vote at all,
since Trump won't be on the ballot anymore,
and he isn't giving them any good reason to show up to vote
for Republican candidates......
(and plenty of reasons for Democrats and independents to show up
to vote AGAINST Republican candidates---
The lack of partisan 'backlash' in 2022,
won't be repeated in 2026 on behalf of Republicans!

(606 posts)He is what I have colorfully described as a cluster B train wreck (See DSM-5). In simple terms this means always needing to be the top dog, the center of attention, exclusively concerned about what benefits him without concern for the rights of or harm to others, and chronically stormy interpersonal relationships and identity fluctuation. He has all these qualities to the nth degree, and much can be explained from that perspective. Add to that that he is now caught in a trap of his own making, i.e., chickens coming home to roost. He is not mentally or psychologically well AND he is continuing on tried and true strategies which got him where he is today. They may seem like madness, and may actually be madness, but it is consistent with prior patterns of behavior.
