A Georgia politician shows some guts: former Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan switches to Democratic party.

Former Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan announced he is now part of the Democratic Party in an editorial published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday.

Duncan’s official switch could signal that he no longer has hope in the Republican Party, University of Georgia professor Charles Bullock said, and that message could resonate with other political moderates.

“It's not going to have any impact on Trump followers, but on individuals who generally still think of themselves as Republicans, but have a hard time supporting for Donald Trump or providing support for, obviously, candidates closely associated with Donald Trump, they might then cue off of what Geoff Duncan has done here," he said.

The former lieutenant governor publicly backed Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024 and criticized President Donald Trump while still identifying himself as a Republican.

Which they have to do to do the right thing, but some may be capable and it would be nice if they did.

It will change nothing because this is an authoritarian government now and we are not going to change that, soon the military will be used against us and it’s not going to change it’s that simple.

I don’t have to keep repeating how all this happened starting in 2016 but, that’s why it all happened.

2. You don't have to keep fighting, if you feel that hopeless, but you shouldn't discourage the rest of us.

Why play into Trump's hands? He wants us all to give up.

I am simply angrily summarizing where we are, because none of this had to happen except for how certain folks on the left treated Hillary Clinton in 2016.

I want people to talk about our current condition accurately, it’s far worse than almost anyone is talking about at least in the media.

People should be scared to death and most are not, but you’re right to challenge me and call me out because I can see how the things I say can discourage people

Otherwise we'll be no better than the "good Germans" in Nazi Germany.

To win the Governship.
First, kudos to Geoff. He lives 10 miles from me. I was going to send him a thank you after his courageous stand he took.
He gave away his career to do the right thing. He was heir apparent to be the next Governor.

All he needs is to siphon off 5% of the republican vote to win.
