The hell on earth gets worse. Fuck Netanyahu.
"Israeli leaders early on Friday approved a plan for the gradual military takeover of all of Gaza, a pivotal and risky decision that went against the recommendations of the Israeli military and promised to take the nearly two-year war into uncharted terrain.
After 10 hours of deliberations, a majority of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus security cabinet backed his proposal to prepare to conquer the core of Gaza City, according to a pre-dawn statement from his office,
At a later stage, the military is expected to push into central areas of the enclave where Hamas is believed to be holding Israeli hostages and where the military has largely refrained from operating before.
The goal, according to the statement, is to achieve a decisive victory over Hamas. The plan allows for the provision of humanitarian aid to the civilian population outside the combat zones, it said."

Some may argue that it wasn't enough, but it was a damn sight better than what we've got.
I wonder why there aren't protests anymore.

PSL is anti-Trump, but they are also anti-Democratic Party. Lots of people don't realize that. They are pretty much anti-everything and want a communist revolution.

In the post above I was speaking metaphorically, but its not far from the simple truth. What were seeing now is exactly what I said would happen two weeks after Oct. 7th.

Gaugamela
(2,972 posts)that there are no accountable actors in this crisis and no remedies. Its an atrocity on a massive scale in other words, a genocide. Israel will continue to use starvation and US supplied weapons to conduct this atrocity until all Palestinians are dead or driven from Gaza. Theyve said as much. And theres nowhere for the Palestinians to go but into the sea. Mincing words wont make the situation go away.

(3,492 posts)I was not at all excusing Israel. I believe it is an atrocity.
I also believe you are exaggerating what will happen, though it will be terrible.
BTW, do you think Hamas and their death to the Jews bears any responsibility?

(2,972 posts)trajectory and what Netanyahu and extremists in his government have said. I have no doubt that there are plans in reserve to raze the Al-Aqsa Mosque and build a new temple on the Temple Mount.
I suppose it's possible that Trump might change his stance on Gaza if he's desperate for a distraction from the Epstein scandal. But I doubt it, because he needs the evangelical support. He's not running again, and his brain will be useless mush in 2 years, but if he loses too much support he might get 25/4 by his own cabinet. However, what is an exaggeration is stating that "your exaggerations are no help", as though somehow I'm damaging the Palestinian cause, or the situation in Gaza. The point of this obvious exaggeration is to inflate the importance of your opinion.
From the polls I've seen three quarters of Americans disapprove of the Biden/Trump consensus on Gaza. If three quarters of the American people have no effect on Washington policy, it's a given that no post on DU will have any effect. In fact, I seriously doubt many posts here change anyone's mind about anything, even among Duers. In any case, your opinion is no more important than mine.
As for your question, of course Hamas bears responsibility. But when a society is reduced to abject poverty, as the Palestinians have been by the oppression of Israel, the rise of gangs, militias, and warlords is inevitable. The UN recognizes the right of an occupied people to fight against their oppressors. That doesnt exonerate terrorism against civilians, but Israel has had Gaza in a stranglehold for decades, and enjoys the largesse of the US MIC, and when you get this kind of extreme asymmetry in warfare the oppressed will use any means at their disposal. Israel, on the other hand, a state that would not have been allowed to consolidate under the Geneva Conventions due to their seizure of Palestinian territories and natural resources, is committing war crimes.

(3,672 posts)It's Israel's plan of ethnic cleansing, always has been. Netanyahu was enabled, but it was always for Israel. The end goal was to "take over Gaza" as just announced. They're not doing it for Trump.
This whole "Trump Resorts" thing, whether people realize it or not, just serves to deflect blame and accountability for a genocidal state engaged in ethnic cleansing. As if the last nearly two years hadn't happened.

(33,518 posts)That place is toxic, literally.
Dubai 2.0 is BS talk as an excuse for military conflict and treating people like shit. It's would be like racist people saying, "Indian Reservations should be like Las Vegas because they allow gambling, but they're not because they receive money from the federal govt".
I've heard people in Israel say, "If Hamas wasn't there, Gaza would be another Dubai". But those remarks have always sounded racist to me.

(3,148 posts)the statement about humanitarian aid is sheer pablum.
