More than 1500 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz.

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...

On top of all the other "should've been bigger stories" relating to Trump's immigration scandals and his ICE gestapo-like actions.

Families, lawyers can't find them? Disappeared from ICE database?? Whatever can it mean?

Smells like straight up NAZI shit to me.

is not closed. Second, they didn't vanish from the ICE database. They were never in the database because Alligator Alcatraz is a State run facility.

the Florida Division of Emergency Management. The detainees at Alligator Alcatraz are not in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, hence the absence of their names in the federal database.

Is there any public record of the people who were sent to that place by i.c.e ? Or any of the other detainment camps?

Why can't their families and lawyers get in touch with 1800 people?

if ICE arrests someone and then sends them to a State run facility. I would assume the State has records, but don't really know.

Alligator Alcatraz Is an ‘Extrajudicial Black Site,’ Immigrant Advocates Say as Detainees Disappear - Common Dreams

According to the Miami Herald, over 1,000 detainees in Florida’s immigrant internment camp have effectively “disappeared,” with family and attorneys unable to track their whereabouts.

Reporters found that around 800 of the people on the rosters do not appear on Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Online Detainee Locator System, which provides publicly available information about the court status and locations of people who have been jailed by immigration enforcement. Another 450 had no location listed and instead merely instructed users to “Call ICE for details.”

The Herald also found that the vast majority of the detainees in the system did not have final orders of removal issued against them by immigration judges, which would be required for their deportation. Nevertheless, the detainees’ families and attorneys have been left unable to find them.

At what point, I wonder, does something like this garner appropriate outrage? Picked up, abducted, then disappeared?

At what point do we begin mentioning words like criminal, 'atrocity,' and such?

When 2000 disappear? Five thousand? 10? 20? 40? a million? or more?

Conversely, Is the loss of any ONE, if incarcerated and spirited away under dubious if not devious means, of lesser importance, especially to their wives, children, family members,

than the loss of another? Do they not also mourn?
