Massie Says GOP Leaders in Full Panic Over Epstein Files
September 24, 2025 at 12:03 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard
And he says House Speaker Mike Johnson and some of the powers that be in DC are in full panic right now about it.

(16,386 posts)but I'll give credit where credit is due, he's not backing down, in fact, he's doubling down on the Epstein Files.

(4,276 posts)If there are Dems identified then so be it. Enough already! My guess it is more Rs than not.

(43,018 posts)If they find Bill Clinton or somebody else in there, it will not shatter the world of Democrats. However, Trumps cover-up might mess up the Republicans a bit.

(39,213 posts)... but on the other hand, he doesn't really care if other Repukes are in there. He seems to be saying "Let the chips fall where they may. It's the only way we'll ever get past this."
Most Democrats are saying pretty much the same thing. We already know the reason why Bill Clinton flew on Epstein's private jet. He explained himself years ago. If other Dems were involved with Epstein (and it's doubtful) ... they haven't said a word.
I give Rep. Massie credit because Chump is in a position to do him some damage in the next election. He may not survive this.

(12,997 posts)think they are fully scrubbed of those names they do not want public.
democratsruletheday
(1,681 posts)and I don't REALLY get how or why he's pressing the issue. I mean....what's in it for HIM? He's a MAGA tool and very unpopular at this point in his neck of the woods. Chances are very high he loses re-election next November. So maybe this is a hail Mary type of issue for him? He can prove his self professed Libertarian roots and expose Trump and his pals as (alleged) pedophiles. Personally, I think most everything will be redacted and purged. They're gonna cover their tracks: that's what they do best. But we shall see.

(3,709 posts)Threat of a primary , a promise to block him from going after McTurtle's seat, demanding a share of a kickback...I do not really care why Massie is going after the Putin's puppet . But I am happy that he is pushing it.
MTG may drink the koolaid and think that there are lots of dems and few Rs. Hell she might even say that Mango was a democrat when he was on Epstein island -- so tea party et al get a pass.
But we know that this is the realm of the super rich and powerful who might have been blackmailed... that has Republican megadonors and politicians written all over it

(7,838 posts)It's a bill to require the Attorney General to release all documents and records in possession of the Department of Justice relating to Jeffrey Epstein, and for other purposes. In order to be binding, it needs to pass both the House and Senate and be signed by the President.

House leaders can also wait two legislative days before putting it to a vote. The bill is likely to face an uphill battle in the Senate if it clears the House, but it will force Republicans to go on record over the Epstein files.
Thune has already refused to commit to even bringing it to the floor in the Senate.
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/watch-thune-wont-commit-to-senate-vote-on-epstein-files-in-senate-leadership-briefing
Asked on Tuesday if the Senate would vote on the bill if it is passed by the House, Thune said I cant comment on that at this point.
Thune said the Justice Department has already released tons of files related to this matter.
I trust them in terms of having the confidence that theyll get as much information out there as possible in a way that protects the rights of the victims, Thune said.

(21,888 posts)Trump seems to be genuinely tied up in knots about the Epstein files. He can't stand for anyone to bring up Epsteins name, let alone the files themselves. I absolutely do not believe he's capable of faking that, so the way I see it, there must be something in there that he's very afraid of.
Time will tell.

(21,888 posts)All I know for sure is that Trump seems to have his knickers in a major knot over the Epstein files. I don't think he's capable of faking that, and I can't see any reason he would want to fake it even if he could.
Sometimes things really are what they seem.

(37,846 posts)Trump's ascendancy relied heavily on MAGA conspiracies, everything from pizza basements to pedo rings to all things Clinton. They were promised the evil librul Democrats would be exposed!

(21,888 posts)I think he's too self-absorbed to care that much about anything that is not a direct personal threat to him. Because all he really cares about is himself.

Where was Prince Andrew charged before he settled with Giuffre?
Have charges been brought in other countries? Just curious. Are they also keeping them under wraps?
