Congress needs to defund ICE immediately. They are the driving force that is actively leading us to eventual chaos. It's just a matter of time before these military guys go off the rail. They develop a group mentality and they are not beyond killing American citizens. How soon we forget Kent State?
We need a complete overhaul of ICE, Homeland Security, and the entire intelligence apparatus. They have corrupted the entire system to its core. It is worthless as it now stands. They are abusing American citizens. The American people cannot stand for it. They must be dismantled.
Congress must be informed immediately that their sitting on their hands does not cut the mustard. We do not want these thugs in our cities. Stop them now. Before it is too late.

(4,676 posts)Its not going to. The system has failed. Congress isnt going to do a damn thing about this, theyre in favor of it. Theyre as much a part of the corruption as any one of those agencies.
When fascism takes over as it has, the only thing that can save us is us. And Americans just arent up to the task. We schedule our protests for fucks sake. We should be in the streets en mass right now. We should be shutting the country down with general strikes and demanding this government be removed. Peacefully at first and then doing whatever it takes.
But that isnt happening and isnt likely to happen. Not yet. Once everyone is starving and has nothing to lose we might finally see some real action. Until then its all just impotent fist shaking.
I really dont think people quite understand what a dire situation were in.

(114,782 posts)....but I do not want people to simply surrender. We must continue to fight. If it is a "fait accompli", then many people will be resigned and do nothing, in my opinion.
But I truly do not believe we can make it to the next election.

(27,387 posts)We have crossed the rubicon, and very few people understand that.
We will have to fix this ourselves, and soon. It may take a revolution, or at least revolutionary thinking. I don't have a handle yet on just how to do that. As the old saying goes, trying to organize Democrats is like trying to herd cats. Congress is hamstrung, and really can't think outside the box. The 6 corrupt Supremes are worse than worthless. The judges ruling against this regime are hanging tough, but I think they'll be washed away in the fascist flood.
I hate to say it, but I'm afraid there's going to be blood shed on both sides. It may be the only thing to wake up the sleepwalkers.

While there is much destruction and chicanery afoot, defeatist doomer hyperbole doesnt help us resist the actual atrocities and evil occurring daily.
