I lived in my house for 32 years and this morning the sun was so intense in my bathroom window I couldnt look at it. And today outside the sun was more intense then Ive ever noticed. I looked it up and they said there are solar flares today and that there is a fast solar wind coming towards the earth and we could have auroral displays tonight. One other site I saw said there is a solar storm that hit Venus and could hit us.
Strange times we live in!

(17,148 posts)and rainy today where I am. Not unusual to get solar flares that hit us. I think they sometimes have to do something with satellites so they arent affected by solar flares and possibly the space station as well.

(4,435 posts)This guy Stefan Burns covers the sun's activities, and other topics. I find it very interesting.
There are 2 areas of sun spots that explode lots of solar sun stuff out into space. Right now, the sun spots are on the side of the sun that is facing away from us. I only know this because I've been following this guys youtubes for a while. I just find it very interesting. I think we can expect more sun activity as those sun spots return to be facing earth.
What was interesting to me is that there were huge solar emissions (explosions) that would be hitting 3iAtlas - because it is behind the sun from our perspective right now), but these emissions were so huge, that we are even feeling it on earth, on the other side of the sun spots.
The sun activity also effects earth quakes.
Anyway, if anyone is interested, here is the link that got me interested in watching this guys videos, from about 12 days ago:

Think I'll go hibernate.

(11,323 posts)I wonder what site you checked re- the solar weather? NOAA doesn't seem to see any CME currently or in our immediate future: https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/

We're coming off the long-awaited solar maximum. https://www.spaceweather.gov/products/solar-cycle-progression.
It's much stronger than the previous cycle, not as strong as the one from 2000, following a downward trend the last 5 cycles..
