FOOD BANK DIRECTOR: âFor every meal a food bank provides, the SNAP program provides 9. Thereâs no way we can meet that gap. We were not built to do this.â

(@TNDemocrats are imploring @GovBillLee to fund SNAP with the billions in reserves as other states are, but he refuses)
Okay. We get it. You hate Democrats. You have made it well known but to starve this many children is way beyond cruel.

(14,802 posts)One would think the "Investor Class" would have enough economic understanding about how the multiplicity of Money works with businesses, services, and real estate.
Governer Walz pointed out that the spending of $1.00 of SNAP results in $1.80 of local revenue. What he doesn't do is continue the progress; every $1.80 of local revenue attracts another $0.50 of outside investment because of more money available to be spent locally (the market is expanding), which in turn adds to the state tax base, which extending to an additional $0.50 that can be invested in local - infrastructure...
And wait, there's more! The less money a potential corporate or business needs to put into their operational infrastructure because of that $1.00 SNAP spent, the more likely they will be attracted to build in that location, creating more jobs and services, reducing the need for that $1.00 in SNAP within 3 to 5 years.
Unless, of course, the desired outcome is for a zero-sum Plantation economy - and those really aren't viable because inherited ownership economic models rarely remains disciplined enough not to become irresponsible and frivolously wasteful. Plantation economies require an ingrained sense of noblesse oblige and a lot of expenditures by the owners to ensure the compliance of a slave or indentured workforce that is required for a Plantation economy to be successful.

(17,514 posts)want this country to be like, I suggest that they go visit the Mississippi Delta region. It's better than it used to be, but still most everything is owned by a few and there is widespread poverty. What they really want is even worse. They would like for us to go back to the days of slavery, they just want to be able to make slaves out of debtors.

If South Carolina can do this, any state can.

(28,255 posts)any state, local, or private donations can begin to make up for the shut down.

(14,622 posts)The Governor acknowledged that they wouldnt be able to cover that, but I am surprised he is being aggressive about pushing the idea.
He is one of those Repubs with a tiny little spine - he is term limited so he can now actually act like a real human and not just follow Trump.

(28,255 posts)Dear lord, what is SC's income? Five million dollars a month? What percentage of SC's monthly income is this? 50%? I'm going to guess, without bothering to research, that the million bucks is significantly less than 1%, and it's hard to believe there's no other place in the budget to take money from.

(14,622 posts)Those will be covered by donations; the State will provide logistical support through a semi-public foundation that is required by law to spend 99% of their donations on direct aid to residents.

(13,052 posts)Of course, theyll create fake reports and do AI video of long lines at food banks. They dont personally care if children or adults starve. They just care about forcing Democrats to reopen the government without Republicans having to negotiate the ending healthcare subsidies.

(12,144 posts)must DO SOMETHING! Find your local food bank TODAY and donate money! While there, ask if they have a shopping list of items they need the most. While doing your weekly shopping, remember to take the list. Then drop the items off when on your way home. Whatever. Just DO SOMETHING!
