Donald Trump, like autocrats around the globe, is weaponizing food supply. He is prepared to let more than 40 Million Americans go hungry to pressure Democrats to capitulate on the shutdown and accede to his plan to snatch health insurance away from tens of millions of people.

The New York Times reports, “With no end in sight to the nearly monthlong federal government shutdown, funding for the nation’s largest food assistance program, known as SNAP, will disappear at the start of November, according to the Department of Agriculture.”

On Friday, the Trump administration said in a memo that it would not tap into contingency funds to keep payments flowing to states. That means that the roughly 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP — the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — may soon have to find other ways to feed themselves and their families.”

In many cases, alternatives to SNAP will be unavailable since states and localities lack funds while charities cannot scale up to meet the food deficit. “Anti-hunger organizations and food banks say the surging demand will almost certainly exceed their capacity to respond.”

There is no excuse for shutting off food benefits. Sharon Pratt, a former Office of Management and Budget employee, wrote for the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities: “In fact, the Administration is legally required to use contingency reserves — billions of dollars that Congress provided for use when SNAP funding is inadequate that remain available during the shutdown — to fund November benefits for the 1 in 8 Americans who need SNAP to afford their grocery bill.

Genocide is a good term, I like to use eugenics instead. The master race will survive, the billionaires plan to replace unwashed Americans with AI. Look at what Amazon is doing.

Also, Krasnov has finally gotten Jerome Powell to cave and cut interest rates because Krasnov wants to crash the dollar and strengthen Crypto where he has made untraceable billions since he became president.

The only thing from making the economy much worse is that the price of gas and diesel have not gone up. Our government has taken over 2 Venezuelan refineries, the oil from Venezuela is really thick and only can be refined at certain refineries. I know CITGO was one, I forget the other. Also, Krasnov is buying crude oil to replenish our strategic oil supply. Anyone check what price our government is paying to do this?

My deepest hope is that the cratering happens fast. But it is a hope that has more basis in reality daily.

Paul Krugman was on Lawrence last night. He believes the Senate would pass a continuing resolution to fund SNAP easily with bipartisan support. His thought is that such a resolution would pass the House as well. The sticking point is Johnson calling the House back in to session. And, of course, the reason that hasn’t occurred already is that Johnson then would have to swear in Grijalva and the vote to release the Epstein files would pass. Krugman wrote yesterday and reiterated on MSNBC that it’s not too much to say that the Republicans are willing to starve Americans to keep the truth about Epstein hidden.

The cracks are there, though. The Senate called out the Brazil tariffs. I’ve heard the Canada tariffs are next. MTG is taking the Speaker to task and others are joining in. They realize the House must get back to work. The fact that they have not been called back to Washington by Johnson is noticeable.
