I get "diplomacy," but...

The president's culinary preferences fast food, well-done steaks and spaghetti are well known, and his Asian hosts attempted to strike a balance between regional specialties and his Americanized tastes, according to the New York Times.
"The lunch he shared with President Lee Jae Myung of South Korea and business leaders on Wednesday was summed up by Mr. Lees office as 'fusion Korean cuisine featuring regional specialties from across the nation and tailored to President Trumps preferences,'" the Times reported.
"The White House picked up on the gesture, calling the Thousand Island dressing, tossed with South Korean shrimps, scallops and abalone, 'a nod to Trumps New York roots,'" the report added. "It appeared to be his preferred dressing. He also had the condiment, which hails from near the border between New York and Ontario, the night before in Tokyo at the U.S. Ambassadors residence."
The South Koreans also served braised short ribs made with U.S. beef, along with kimchi and other traditional sides, but also served beef patties with ketchup and brownies decorated with what Lee's office described as "the color of gold that President Trump favors.

(20,674 posts)I read the reference to "fusion" in the article and those pictures match what I envisioned.
"Fusion" has never been synonymous with "Super Size Me."

Same goes for people and institutions that bend the knee.
I know my opinion of them matters not at all.
Still...

(20,674 posts)Like I said, I do understand diplomacy.
And the brownie topped with the gold he favors is where it went from that to something else.

...Hefner was asked, I believe in the 70s, maybe the 80s..."Do you realize that the reason most of these women want to be with you is because of your money?"
Hefner, without missing a beat: "Who CARES?"
I don't think Trump thinks past the point of BEING flattered, because he's ADDICTED to it. There can never be "balance" in his life without regularly refreshed helpings of unconditional fealty and worship.

(48,185 posts)Pour enough of a sweet mixture of ketchup, mayo and sweet relish on a salad and you can hardly see or taste that nasty iceberg lettuce.
What a child.
