Just when you think it can't get any worse...

Our city Facebook page had a heartbreaking plea from the local animal shelter to please adopt a pet. They have been inundated with pets who have been surrendered because their owners can't afford them anymore.

My god, every day a new horror. My heart just breaks.

1. Many Americans are so narcotized by corporate media's relentless lies they no longer understand or feel anything.

Critters (and people) gotta suffer for that demon from Hell.

I hope the pets find good homes.

3. It's also possible to donate to the Humane Society, if you can't adopt a pet

For the next several months I'm staying in an apartment that forbids pets of any kind, including cats. The Humane Society does a great job caring for abandoned pets. It's sad that this happens but pet food is expensive, and some families can't manage it right now.

The animal shelter were overflowing. I adopted 2 animals back then. Unfortunately, they have since passed away.

People were staying home and thought, "I'll just get a pet since I'm home every day." Then they had to go back to their jobs and school and the pets were either left alone all day long or surrendered to the pound.

We are always reminded to think long and hard about getting a pet and how it's a long term commitment, but Americans being Americans don't think long-term. I'm almost 77 years old and most people know me as the woman who always had a dog or two. When my last one died I decided that I could no longer get a young dog given that my dogs always lived to be about 16 years old. I'm in excellent health and am very fit, but at this age I have to wonder how much longer I will be both of those things. I'm also alone, so there isn't anyone to share the duties. Now I just volunteer with dogs.
