'Unforgivable': Trump's 'piggy' insult is stoking more outrage than usual

It’s one outrage in days full of outrageous material.

“Quiet, piggy,” Donald Trump told a female reporter in a press gaggle, pointing his finger at her angrily.

It wasn’t the first time – not even the hundredth time – the US president has attacked the media. And it’s hard for any storyline to break through the administration’s “flood the zone” strategy, much less one like this. Nothing seems to stick. But the “quiet, piggy” clip has taken off, several days after the admonishment occurred on Air Force One last Friday, and without much help from the media itself.

“I don’t know why the ‘Piggy’ thing is bothering me so much,” wrote Hank Green, a YouTuber and author. “It’s one more unforgivable thing in a list of 20,000 unforgivable things, but I’ve been mad about it for like 12 straight hours.”

"nasty" questions.

I wish the next reporter he hurls this at would come back with "But Sir (😏 , your whole brand is built on being nasty. You give out all kinds of degrading nicknames and regularly call us "terrible." My question wasn't INTENDED to insult you, unlike your nicknames and disparaging comments. I accept that you did feel slighted, despite my intention. But surely you aren't saying you can dish it out but you can't take it??"

because he has no filter, an obvious symptom of his rapid mental decline...

as my late mother-in-law's dementia progressed, I watched her threaten, insult, curse, spew racial epithets, accuse, and shove...and yet she could "pass" a simple cognitive assessment exam..but she couldn't draw a clock..she slurred her words, "reached" for words, and spoke in repetition..sound familiar?

Trump is saying what he is really thinking out loud. As outrageous as he's been in the past, I think he had somewhat of a filter most of the time, but now more crap is leaking out of his mouth.

Perhaps now, WH correspondents are finally hitting back. It will become even more apparent when female reporters are BANNED from the WH and AF1.

I think I saw it same day, but I noticed it gaining traction subsequently. 'Cuz it is something that strikes a nerve

Are the press and media doing their job? The article indicates they did nothing to defend their colleague for fear of being attacked too, and I reckon something like this is everyday, not "breaking news" click bait material?

of the Country. Adams, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelts, Kennedy, Reagan (talking about his speeches not the odious policies), Obama. The demeaning of the rhetoric has hurt the US much more than we can imagine.
The piggy insult reinforces all the previous foul utterances of TSF. It isn’t a “joke or just joking” to people. The mask has fallen. It is who he is.

Roberta Kaplan says Trump threw papers across table at Mar-a-Lago deposition because his legal team agreed to feed her lunch

Kaanita Iyer and Jamie Gangel, CNN
Thu, February 1, 2024

Attorney Roberta Kaplan said former President Donald Trump threw papers across a table and stormed off during a deposition at Mar-a-Lago after learning that his legal team had agreed to provide her lunch.

Snip…

“We come in the room and I say, ‘I’m done asking questions’ and immediately I hear from the other side, ‘Off the record. Off the record. Off the record.’ So they must have planned it. And he looks at me from across the table and he says, ‘See you next Tuesday,’” she recounted.

Kaplan said that she was initially confused, as their next meeting was set for a Wednesday. “You could tell it was like, it was like a kind of a joke again, like teenage boys would come up with. But again, I wasn’t in on the joke,” she said.

“I wasn’t in on the joke, so I had no idea. Then we get into the car and my colleagues are like, ‘Robbie, do you know what that means?’ And I’m like, ‘No, what are you talking about?’ They tell me and I’m like, oh my God, thank God I didn’t know because had I known, I for sure would have gotten angry. There’s no question I would have gotten angry,” Kaplan said.

If they took a group photo of everyone on that plane at the time he used this slur, guess which person would look the most like a pig, and has acted the most like a pig? I mean, I could be wrong, but if Vegas was taking odds on the bet my money would be on Trump.

He will get worse.

Next up will be him using the actual swear words that he really wants to use. Or maybe something really funny like taking off his clothes inappropriately.

Also he will start having more blank periods like when he was in Japan or how he just stood there blank when that old white guy fell over during speeches. Total disconnect between his brain and what he's doing.

And the anger will get worse. When these types of personalities can't understand what's going on, they frequently get angrier and angrier.

https://www.ms.now/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/trumps-piggy-comment-extends-lengthy-record-routine-misogyny-rcna244852

A year later, the carnival continues. My MS NOW colleague Clarissa-Jan Lim reported on what happened when a female reporter pressed the president on his Jeffrey Epstein ties. From the report:

During a press gaggle on Air Force One on Friday, the reporter asked the president about one of the emails Epstein wrote about him that Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released last week. When she tried to follow up with a question about potentially incriminating details in the Epstein files, Trump pointed and said, “Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.”

The White House made no effort to deny the accuracy of the quote, which was captured on video, telling MS NOW in a statement that the president’s target deserved the rebuke after engaging in “inappropriate and unprofessional” conduct......

Complicating matters, however, is the familiarity of the circumstances. Meidas News’ Ron Filipkowski put together a video montage that highlights examples of Trump insulting, berating, demeaning and attacking female reporters — just over the past few months.

Trump is, in other words, exactly who he appears to be. He’s the man in the E. Jean Carroll case. He’s the one on the “Access Hollywood” recording. He’s the Republican who suggested some of the women who’ve accused him of sexual misconduct weren’t attractive enough to attack. He’s the politician who vowed to “protect” women from the White House “whether the women like it or not.”

I think of the (mercifully few) MAGATs I know. They're always moving goalposts, looking for false equivalencies, insisting that Democrats are twisting the truth or not telling the whole story. They just really really need to believe in Trump.

This is impossible to explain away. I imagine "nice" Christian women who normally twist themselves into pretzels to explain away Trump's bad behavior mumbling "Well, he shouldn't have said that." They'll immediately follow up with some false equivalency but there isn't one.

Even they can't pretend that Obama or Biden ever said something like that to a reporter.

It's kind of devastating in its simplicity.
