(128,522 posts)Swanson's makes a TV dinner that looks more appetizing. Hospital or high school cafeteria food would be an improvement. But you are privileged to be at Mierda-Lardo so don't complain.

(6,069 posts)canned corn. The meat is a mystery, as is that large block of bread-thingy.
Maybe the same guy who hid the classified documents is now the chef.
Retrograde
(11,354 posts)maybe that's the meat? It looks like the people preparing the plates couldn't care less about the people who are going to eat. I think the bread thing is that pale stuff on the left: the block of stodge on the right could be dessert.

(14,943 posts)Best injira in town, real teff flour, not teff and buckwheat. We showed up at 2 pm, their "slow period", and no one was there when we got there; they weren't expecting anyone to come in until around 5, so the owner and his family took turns sitting down and eating their dinners with us.
5 selection Veggie combos and 5 selection meat combos at various spice levels, and the best collard greens I've had, well cooked and flavored, but not soggy at all. And more food than three people could eat...at about the price of getting everything for a "traditional" Thanksgiving dinner with leftovers.
Ethiopian ginger tea, coffee, and (free) honey cake and cream for dessert.
The market owner and his family, who came out to eat with us, were very thankful we were there. And that is what, to me, was important. Everyone was thankful. Everyone had good food. And we helped a local business owner.

(13,628 posts)We went away for the first Thanksgiving in my memory. Went to a small resort in PA for their Thanksgiving buffet, and it was delightful! Not having to be doing something for anyone for the first Thanksgiving in my memory, whether it was cooking or working, was an incredible plus, and I think that's what my husband planned. We arrived the evening before, had dinner, slept in, got up, had coffee, and waited semi-patiently for our searing to be called. Then---well, all I can say is YUM! There was turkey (real thing, carved from the bird), ham, and roast pork, with all the trimmings, several choices of veg, salad, and three choices of dessert---pumpkin pie of course, cheesecake, and chocolate cake. Also an entire beverage station, plus the bar was open for anyone who wanted wine or spirits. Now I think I want to do something like that for the rest of my Thanksgivings on earth!

Tbs, I will be making a turkey on Sunday because I love to have turkey soup. I freeze a lot of it to have handy during winter. Ill do the usual sides, but nothing fancy.

An ex Pat friend of mine living in Spain, said they found a really nice restaurant run by two sisters from Ireland who had lived in Boston for 10 years, and they were serving a special American Thanksgiving dinner and all the other Americans living nearby were showing up too

(14,138 posts)And the lunch we gave to our high school kids last week for their annual Thanksgiving was chock full of gorgeous food and the kids were all but doing cartwheels. If its a contest to see who are the Haves and Have Nots, I would say we are the HAVES, hands down!

(1,789 posts)dinner. It was a fabulous meal. If I could post pictures of what we were served I would, so to compare with that shite that was served at Mar-a-Lago.
We had appetizers and cocktails, first. I had quiche, Brie w/crackers, crusty bread with spinach dip, and mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto along with homemade sangria. Didnt have much of each so as not to spoil my appetite.
1st course was shrimp cocktail. 2nd course was spinach salad with glazed walnuts and goat cheese.
Main course was turkey and you had your choice of white, dark, or mixed. For sides, I chose cornbread stuffing with cranberries and sausage, sweet potato soufflé, brussel sprouts in a Gorgonzola sauce and broccoli salad. I skipped the mashed potatoes and the sautéed pearl onions. You could also get seconds.
Cranberry sauce and rolls were on the table.
Dessert was pumpkin cheese cake, pumpkin pie, pumpkin mousse and pecan pie. I had the mousse and pecan pie.
That plate at M-A-L looks pathetic.

(1,752 posts)And served on a gaudy, tacky-looking plate. What a person with absolutely no taste whatsoever thinks is "classy." Good grief, that cretin just destroys everything.
I ate on disposable plates yesterday that were much better looking than that ugly plate. Food was better, too. And the company was a million times better.
Another thing to be thankful for - that I didn't have to eat at Mar-a-Lago.

(12,200 posts)Mine was much better and it was a last minute throw together of steak and ale pie, mash, roasted root vegetables and cranberry sauce. I couldve gone to a pub near one of the air force bases near my flat, but I waited too long.

The presentation is awful. Gravy dripping over the side of the plate, corn all over the place and 2 piles of unrecognizable food.

(52,812 posts)It looks like two small pieces of turkey, a piece of cornbread, one piece of broccoli, one penis-size carrot and some corn.
No mashed potatoes, no stuffing, no olives.
Let me guess: the silverware included a fork, a knife, a spoon and a magnifying glass so you could find your dinner.
