Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has accepted (is considering) an invitation to join U.S. President Donald Trumps Board of Peace on the future of Gaza, a senior government official said Saturday.
The Globe and Mail is not naming the source because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
Mr. Carney, who just wrapped up a four-day visit to Beijing, is headed for Qatar Saturday, and later will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
......
The names announced by the White House Friday included U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Mr. Trumps special Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, former British prime minister Tony Blair and the U.S. Presidents son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Carney is taking one for the Team. At least he's qualified to rebuild an economy. The others seem not qualified. What could go wrong.

(130,636 posts)2. I wholeheartedly agree. I wish Carney would have taken a pass.
I hope they don't set him up as corrupt or try and destroy him politically, you know because Trump wants Canada and Canada responded by going for Carney as the anti-Trump and his poll numbers have gone way up since the election last spring. At least Carney knows something about something to do with rebuilding an economy for the people, not just rich developers. I see conflict coming already.
