NJ-07: O'Rourke's (D) campaign gets endorsement from Ro Khanna
California Rep. Ro Khanna has been unusually involved in New Jersey politics this cycle for a congressman from across the country, and today he made another Garden State endorsement: climate scientist Megan O’Rourke for the 7th congressional district.
O’Rourke, who worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture before launching her campaign for her competitive home district, has put together an ideologically diverse coalition of endorsements that also includes former Rep. Rush Holt (D-Hopewell) and the New Jersey State Council of Machinists.
“Dr. Megan O’Rourke saw firsthand the damage the Trump Administration has done to our country, and she decided to fight back and stand up for New Jersey families,” Khanna said in a statement. “I’m proud to endorse Dr. O’Rourke because she will be a different voice in Congress with the experience and vision to make our country safer, fairer, healthier, and more affordable.”
Khanna, a prominent progressive congressman rumored as a possible 2028 presidential candidate, came to Bridgewater last April to host a town hall and decry the 7th district’s GOP congressman, Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (R-Westfield). The district’s Democratic primary field was still in its early stages at that point, but has now grown to eight candidates, most of whom have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for their campaigns.
