Does calling your representative actually do anything?

Does calling Rep. Hakeem Jeffries office cause him to change his position? Does writing letters do anything?

I really want to know from others experience. I gave this up years ago, leaving messages and speaking to “staff”, which I suspect are interns assigned the phone. Does it make any difference? Will a representative change his position from calls?
