University of Cincinnati set to start demolition of iconic tower

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The University of Cincinnati is preparing for a major campus transformation with the demolition of Crosley Tower, a long-criticized building that once ranked among the “eight ugliest university buildings” in the country, according to Architectural Digest.

University officials said deconstruction was originally expected to begin this week but has been delayed because of weather. Work is now expected to start later this week.

The 16-story tower was completed in 1969 and is considered the second-largest single-poured concrete structure in the world, behind the Hoover Dam.

The university’s Board of Trustees approved the project with a budget of nearly $50 million. Full demolition is expected to conclude by the end of the year.

pretty cool buildings and I don't like the erasing of the style or part of the urban fabric that they exist.
