(1,344 posts)Kamala Harris is the only candidate who has obliterated Trump in a debate. She proved that she has excellent qualifications for President and a great grasp of issues. Also very important; she most effectively bridges the divides in the Democratic Coalition. I really want her to run again.
I would really look forward to watching presidential primary debates with Kamala, Gavin Newsom, Jasmine Crockett, AOC and others.

(3,115 posts)As much as I'd
to have a female POTUS (her included), in 2028, I just don't see it happening.
AG, otoh, would be absolutely perfect. With her deputy, Jack Smith!!!

(1,344 posts)Much has happened that none of us have seen in our lifetimes.
In my book, Kamala didn't lose; Joe Biden lost. I'm sorry to say it, but that was something we've never seen in our lifetimes, either; the total collapse of a major presidential campaign. And we've never seen anything like Trump in our lifetimes, and hopefully won't again.
Maybe we need to see that something we've never seen before can still be very possible. The dream ticket is to have two of our best and most effective leaders running for Pres. & VP: Jasmine Crockett, AOC, Kamala Harris; two out of the three in any combination, please. It may just be time to double-down.

(809 posts)The Project 2025 plan was the plan hiding in plain sight that almost nobody voted for but actually won out.
In a way, it is a model for what Democrats must learn to do:
Nobody really wants to hear an actual plan--they want to fall in love with a messenger and put their trust in them. But there needs to be an actual plan behind that messenger. Except in Democrats' case it needs to be a plan to do good; not evil.
I will admit that I got frustrated hearing Democrats endlessly rattle off numbers and statistics in 2024. Given the current electorate, Harris probably would have been better served to just say, "trust me, I have a plan for that. And here is why you can trust me...."
Given that these are politicians and politics we are talking about, I'm not sure anybody believes the detailed plan is ever going to happen anyway. All they really need is a reason to feel good about their vote. Time spent laying out detailed plans based on numbers nobody cares about just takes time away from making a real connection with voters on a human level.

(4,606 posts)I believe the winning margin in 2024 had to do with the economy---
but Democrats should NOT leave such a damaging arrow in their quiver,
and should scream it from the rooftops in such a way that cannot be ignored!
'Dirty politics'? SORRY, but we have SO MANY DIRTY REPUBLICANS!!!!
'so if you VOTE for Republicans, you are voting for criminals, terrorists, nazis
AND CHILD-RAPING PEDOPHILES, and here's PROOF with NAMES!'
I'd like to see THAT in some Democratic campaign advertisements!

(3,115 posts)She had a small handful of numbers/stats but by and large, "trust me, I have a plan for that. And here is why you can trust me...." was pretty much her vibe as I remember it

(10,206 posts)They need to revisit the root word of the term and stop letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.
Tens of millions of us are in a much worse spot now than we were before or than we would have been had Kamala and other good Democrats been elected.
I fully expect MAGA Republicans to do everything they can to prevent progress, but not those that claim to be progressive.

(1,769 posts)Her laugh was good enough for me. I had no problems with Harris at all, she was a good politician, a good person, and would be a damned fine president, and we should absolutely run her again. It was good enough for Hilary to try, it's good enough for Harris.
I had a reel show up on my phone today, showing Harris doing some event or other, and she was talking about all the stuff Trump would do, and she was 100% correct about all of them. Strong, smart, beautiful, kind and funny. What more do people want? Because frankly, I'm tired of the same old, same old, privileged white old man getting the nod. Let's run more to the right! We'll surely pick up those old white bigots' votes! LOL

As California's attorney general, I protected our state from cartels, homeowners from predatory banks, and I made the criminal justice data open ... . In the Senate, it was getting money to community banks, the most effective funders of small business. In the White House, I was able to work on so many issues that mattered to me: small business, maternal health, child poverty, climate action, infrastructure, repairing our global alliances.
"As president, there was so much more I could do. I wanted to see Gen Z given the tools they needed to become a new Greatest Generation, and I had so many ideas on how to help them. I wanted to create a secretary of culture to uplift the immense creative talent of this country. I wanted to change the way we think about our workforce, to assign value based on an individual's skill, to open up government jobs to talented people who didn't necessarily have a college degree. I wanted to increase home ownership. All these things, and so much more, all grounded in the fundamental values of dignity, fairness, and opportunity."
