Trump voter apologizes to the nation on C-SPAN Open Forum.

This heartfelt apology gives me hope that this man is far from alone. He was clearly already disgusted. It was the felon's vile racist post that drove him to act and make the call.

...with them as he is with himself.

But who knows?

I could be reading too much into it, but I thought I heard chagrin as he described "coming by" loyalty to the Republican Party "naturally (automatically/thoughtlessly) as the son of a former president of the American Pipeliners Association.

Perhaps that's just his excuse. Perhaps he'll keep supporting Republican enablers, but he certainly sounded pleased with Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's efforts to attract physicians to the state.

It was a site apologizing for GWB’s lying us into war in Iraq. (If memory serves me right.) On it, everyday Americans would post video apologizing for the harm we brought forth in the world. There was, of course, no WMDs, just the GWB administration’s lies.

I quit watching it after the 24 election. I just couldn't even listen to it any more. I just set it to record again. I would love to hear people coming to their senses again.

Not meaningful unless we see a material breach of his core 38% firewall. We need a good 32% approval rating to come in.

One thing that bothers me about the polls is the question of party affiliation and sampling.

I would guess that they sample and adjust percentages of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans polled to match something like Gallup's annual findings. But Gallup conducts it's interviews over the course of the year and comes up with an annual average of those interviews. I'm not aware of any reporting of trends over the course of the year. We don't get slices of time.

When comparing 2024 to 2025, there is a two percentage point increase in the number of Independents. Both Democrats and Republicans lost about a percent. But when you look at the Lean numbers, the year over year movement is a 6 point swing toward Democrats. (Repub leaning Independents -3 Dem leaning Independents +3)

I think -- and I don't think it is much of a stretch given the horrors of the felon's regime -- if there was ever a time that an unprecedented number of people would exit the Republican party, this would be that time. And if that is true -- if over the months more have moved from identifying as Republican to Independent than captured by Gallup -- that steady 90% approval from Republicans we see in poll after poll is actually 90% of a shrinking number.

A shift of a couple percent from Republican to Independent may not seem like it would make much difference, but if pollsters are consistently giving too much weight to the 90% approval group (Republicans) and too little weight to the 25% approval group (Independents), the overall approval reported is too high. And if the actual percentage of people that identify as Republican is shrinking over time, then the creeping gap between the "true" approval and reported is getting bigger.

There's more in the report that provides a little hope -- like the increasing number of people who identify as liberal...

Two options, he either has been a Democrat all his life and not realized it or is a Democrat calling in saying he is a republican.
He is way too thorough and specific about many areas those of capable of feeling, have known about all along.

I haven't come across one in my social life or while canvassing for a number of years, but there were definitely instances where, after various conversations, it became pretty clear that a "staunch" Republican acquaintance was actually totally onboard with key Democratic aspirations and opposed to Republican cuts in benefits, and whatnot -- like they voted and didn't notice what the Republicans they voted for actually did.

Seemed to me it was usually some mix of (1) I'm from a family of life-long Republicans, (2) a fantasy view of what "Republican values" are, (3) a warped view of what "Democratic values" are.

Then, there are the "abortion is murder and must be banned" people. When I've managed to engage such folk on other things, a few were pretty solidly in the Democratic camp on those other things. Some were even pretty mixed up on their position on abortion when asked questions like, "So, women who have abortions should be thrown in jail?" or "A doctor who gives a woman a safe abortion to save her from harming herself should be put in jail?" When the answer to things like that was something like "No, nobody should be sent to jail, but it should be illegal. It must stop. It's murder." To which the follow ups are things like: "So, you want to make it a crime, but not put anyone in jail?" "So, you think making it a crime will stop women who don't share your religious belief about abortion from finding a way to end a pregnancy they are determined to end?"

Don't know if I actually converted anyone, but was often shocked to find anti-abortion people -- people so staunch in their belief that they would ignore everything else they opposed about a candidate -- who had never given any consideration to such questions. (At least it sure looked that way given the knitted brows and stammering.) I think a lot of those folks just blithely believed that making a "bad thing" illegal makes it magically stop.

for the fucking moron while watching Meidas today. I ranted in my kitchen that they do NOT deserve "forgiveness" for being so stupid, hate filled, greedy, and selfish THREE TIMES!!!! They voted for him 3 TIMES! Do NOT get fooled. This is only a temporary change in their life long GOP attitudes....Raygun built this and he did a great job. 45 years and we are still dealing with Raygun's actions to destroy the USA.

Fuck them! Oh boo fucking who!!!! They are the reason we are here right now...voting for tRump 3 fucking times and NOW they wake up and smell the coffee?!?!? They are too moronic to live or vote. They gave us this hell and they have destroyed our country.

I WILL NEVER FORGIVE A MULTIPLE tRump VOTER!!!!! They must be held accountable as much as their fucking dear leader.

They will still continue to vote and their current perspective is not real or long-lasting.

I am older but wiser.
