Alysa Liu and world champion dance team of Madison Chock and Evan Bates have the Americans leading the team event after day one.

MILAN The start of the womens short program at the Olympic figure skating team event was drawing close Friday afternoon, but American star Alysa Liu couldnt get to the Milano Skating Arena. She and her coach and choreographer were stuck on an official Olympic bus, blocked from the arena parking lot by the motorcade of Vice President JD Vance, who attended the team event.
We almost didnt make it, Lius coach, Phillip DiGuglielmo, later said.
Liu, who appears to live in a perpetual state of controlled chaos and was running late because she hadnt gathered all of her gear in time, handled the holdup better than DiGuglielmo and choreographer Massimo Scali, who still looked rattled at the end of the team event. Liu made it into her dress and onto the ice in time to finish second in the womens short program just behind Japans Kaori Sakamoto. That was enough to help the United States finish the first of the events three days with a two-point lead over Japan and a three-point margin over Italy.

BREAKING: WE ALMOST DIDNT MAKE IT! Team USA skater Alysa Liu nearly MISSES her event because JD Vances motorcade trapped her on her bus!
The eternally selfish and inconsiderate Vice-President of the United States nearly sabotaged a star US athletes performance by blocking the parking lot with his stupid motorcade, trapping Alysa Liu and her choreographer in their bus as they waited for the taxpayer-funded obstacle to remove itself from their path.
We almost didnt make it, Lius coach, Phillip DiGuglielmo, later said.
Thankfully, Liu was able to make it into her dress on time and on to the ice, finishing second in the womens short event, giving the US a two-point lead over Japan and three points over host nation Italy.
I think we have a chance to show what American skaters are and who we are, Liu said after finishing Friday. Were all very unique, and thats what its about.
While obviously this is not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, it is so characteristic of JD Vance to be sabotaging real patriots while trying to pursue his own selfish ambitions.
Its an apt metaphor for his entire political career!
