Our tax return under the BIG beautiful bill


I have to be honest. With almost the same income as 2024, we got a little over $1,500 more on this year's Federal return. Most of that was the new senior citizen deduction of $6,000 x 2 of us.

Now if they make Social Security tax-free like it was before Raygun,.....

My federal refund was seriously like four grand more than last year because of the removal of the cap on the SALT tax. Yes, that helps my family - but I'd still rather pay more taxes for civilized purposes like green energy, supporting small businesses or providing healthcare or meals to people who need it than to subsidize all this.

Haven't officially filed yet, but that's what it's showing so far.

CPA complained about other customers not understanding the new rules on overtime/ tips and mentioned IRS staffing cuts.
