1. It's good to hear that Ukraine is getting something out of this,

but I doubt Trump had them in mind when he decided to pull the trigger. Call it collateral dumb luck.

The reality, though, is that nothing is certain about beheading an 86 year old power player, until we see who comes next.

2. Trump really f'd this up

He could have gotten widespread support for a military action against Iran because almost all countries really hate that regime. Instead, he went alone, and now we are on the hook for a very complicated, bloody mess that could go horribly wrong in a hundred ways.

And if he pulls the same stunt he did in Venezuela, leaving the regime in place but with Trump personally taking the nation’s oil, the world will really hate us.

3. Putin may have made a mistake

It's a bit tinfoil hat, but suppose Putin encouraged Iran to encourage Hamas to do the Oct. 7th atrocities. Putin might have wanted to distract from Ukraine and get Trump elected. He might have used Iran as a cat's paw. Now he's probably lost his drone supply at a minimum.
