(16,468 posts)The idea was as a supposed follower of Christ I was suppose to love others. But now with that malignant mushroom in charge of our country I need a new better word even if I only use it inside my head.
Abhorrence would express both loathing with repugnance.

(53,019 posts)to people, but with Trump I probably say, write, or think it several times a day.
The same with the word "evil", a word I generally reserved for stories or horror movies, rarely in real life. Not anymore.

(272 posts)If and when applies, use it by all means. Personally I believe Trump dissevers all the hate people can throw at him.

(3,871 posts)... so succinctly expresses loathing and contempt like "HATE". It is loaded with negative connotations because of its connection to groups of lower life forms and their diseased belief systems, but in the case of the Orange Gargoyle, nothing else satisfies the expressive need like that one.

(15,308 posts)I have to trust military folks who will 1. Know that could be their personal effects going to loved ones and 2. just see it as another responsibility of their existing job with benefits.
I don't trust the "any Jane or Joe" off the street that's not gone through a vetting process, training, and understands or cares what the recipients of those personal effects might be going through.
Not that there aren't scumbag thieves, drunks, or psychos in the military. But they're more likely to handle other people's effects with respect and responsibility than someone who is just looking for a better paying part time job than food service or a delivery gig.
Just my opinion.

(12,594 posts)for that low wage. When I was in the service specially trained active duty folk performed this task.
I suspect a lot of these soldiers personal effects are going to be highly valued treasures to their loved ones. Hopefully those involved will recognize that.
Knew a guy who volunteered to play bagpipes at a veterans cemetery. Opposite me on the political spectrum but I always respected him for doing it. Would be good to see volunteers do this job. IMHO civilians can be very isolated from our service people.

(15,308 posts)How else are we getting foreign fighters to be our "boots on the ground" until we call up the National Guards and Reservists again.
Being as this is a much larger battlefield than Iraq was, I suspect we're also going to start drafting after the Midterms.

(11,410 posts)Like the "ballroom": destroy something first with flagrant disregard for laws, then (maybe) start the planning process. Those Epstein files must be really incriminating.

Although Delaware's unemployment rate is currently 5.2% https://usafacts.org/answers/what-is-the-unemployment-rate/state/delaware/
this wouldn't mean a lot of people are begging for jobs.((unless there's been a sudden recent increase in layoffs)).
This may be more of an indicator of contractor change, instead of an anticipated increase in workload.
((Unless all the service members in Italy have motorcycle accidents...))
((In my day, a LOT of the non-conflict casualty reports involved motorcycle incidents.))

(11,344 posts)Not a good sign to be fighting an illegal war. Can trump deny their benefits since the war isn't legal?

(295,119 posts)All these anti- government ignorant private sector and tech goons dont have an effin clue and do not give a flying fuck about running a functioning government.
Let the idiots who put them in office see how it works - or ahem
puts their lives in danger.

(3,871 posts)... nothing else comes close to adequate when describing someone so horrifically vile that he thinks nothing of throwing service personnel in the wood chipper of war in the futile attempt to avoid embarrassment for past wrongdoing. Maybe something in Klingon*. My hatred of him and everyone that still kisses his fat, pimply ass burns hotter than the surface of the Sun. Yeah, I know the corona's actually hotter, but I like the alliteration.
*I read that there actually is such a dictionary!
