(64,249 posts)There was some WW2 crap in the Pentagon when I visited a friend there fifty years after the sar ended. I can understand buying really good, ergonomic office chairs and desktops that permit the user to stand and work.
But lobster, ribeyes, etc is ridiculous. Not when vets can't get funding and people can't afford to eat.

(1,670 posts)Back in the 80s, my mother would send me to several convenience stores to spend $1 in food stamps at each one. I was to buy things like for 25 cents, like candy or a soda at one, keep the 75 cents from each store. Then, take all the coins and go to the laundromat with the laundry so we could put coins in the machine. In all those years, I never had any steak, never mind a ribeye steak, never had crab or lobster either. And I had to carry the groceries and laundry. No car.
