(2,476 posts)This was a very contentious race. Casin wrote a series of ugly posts some time ago, which included the n word among other things. Governor Spanberger and other local politicians called for Casin to resign, but he did not. That, in turn, engendered the write-in campaign. I guess this sort of thing could happen anywhere, but this was not a normal situation. Plus the local population is not historically progressive.

There is an openly antisemitic DSA candidate running for Congress in NYC.

So, I'm not terribly concerned. I'm not in Maine so the sole element of my calculus is electability.
