Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff lacked the technical expertise to even understand what the Iranians were offering

Nuclear experts undercut White House claims about Iran reactor at heart of case for war
The Trump administration sent negotiators without nuclear expertise to lead talks on Iran’s enrichment program. Now, its public case for war centers on a facility that experts say cannot do what officials claim.

By Vaughn Hillyard, David Rohde and Ian Sherwood

The Trump administration has cited Iran’s Tehran Research Reactor as a central justification for its military strikes, but has provided no evidence that the facility — built by the United States and used for civilian research for nearly six decades — was being used to develop nuclear weapons. Multiple nuclear scientists and nonproliferation experts told MS NOW that the reactor does not have the capacity to serve as an easy conduit to a bomb as asserted by the administration.

The gap between the administration’s numerous claims about Iran and the available evidence has become a focal point of criticism as questions mount over the decision to launch strikes rather than continue negotiations.

Just 36 hours before the United States opened its military assault, Iran’s nuclear negotiators, along with Oman’s foreign minister as mediator, presented the U.S. with a seven-page proposal for a potential nuclear deal, according to U.S. negotiator Steve Witkoff. But the American negotiators, Witkoff and Jared Kushner — who, according to a senior Middle East diplomat with knowledge of the talks, chose not to include nuclear technical experts in the negotiations — balked at Iran’s request to continue using 20%-enriched uranium at the reactor, a facility for civilian nuclear development that the U.S. first built and provided to Iran in 1967.

But the Trump administration has yet to provide evidence or intelligence — to the public or to Congress — demonstrating that Iran intended to use the uranium at the Tehran Research Reactor for weapon development or that the facility was being covertly used for stockpiling purposes. In two classified briefings provided to lawmakers since the attacks, administration officials made no assertion that the reactor was being used for stockpiling purposes for a potential weapon, according to two people familiar with their comments.

Is anyone shocked...🥱 But I also think they knew perfectly well what they were doing which was to pronounce any negotiated offers as unacceptable.

He was a family friend and they knew each other since Jared was a boy. Witkoff takes his orders directly from Putin, I think.

It's a fitting similarity, AntiChrist and all.

Norm Finkelstein recently joked that Jared needs to lay off the puberty blockers.

And yeah, Netanyahu used to sleep in Jared's bedroom.

But Damian was better looking. Though Kushner might possibly be more evil.

Perhaps you can tell I despise him.

Whatever else he is, Kushner is not stupid. He didn't need no nuclear experts who might object to his dismissal of the offer and throw a wrench. And the offer was really good, but that was not the point. The point was to pretend at negotiating, and Kushner is good at that.

Horrid.

Apparently he's also good at assisting assassinations. Reports are that his "negotiations" necessitated the gathering of many of Iran's leaders in one place and Kushner knew where that was.

At this point in time, Trump is just a stupid old man who isn't able to make Presidential level decisions.
He's like Reagan was in his 2nd term; too deep into dementia to do the job, and being managed by the people around him.
Remember, Kushner received 2 billion dollars from Saudi Arabia for his private equity firm, and the Saudi's were lobbying the Trump government to attack Iran. Kushner would like that gravy train rolling, so he encouraged Trump to attack Iran.

The mere presence of Witkoff & Kushner should have been enough for Iran's negotiators to sense an investment opportunity. That's why World Liberty Financial was created, after all.

An homage to Hubris up and down Pennsylvania Avenue.
Or perhaps use Kraznov’s planned Coliseum for some “entertainment”, you know… Bread and Circuses… for the masses.
It’s sad, though, the Iranians actually thought they could trust the mis-administration.
They CAN be trusted… TO DO EVIL.
As my step-grandfather, the original Proto-MAGA, used to howl: "It’s a God Damned Put-Up Deal!”

This timeline is a real Puker.
