NBC Poll - Among Americans, Iran has a 53 point net negative rating...

With only 8% of respondents favorable of Iran and a whopping 61% disfavorable of Iran. The survey of 1,000 registered voters between Feb. 27 and March 3 will almost certainly see numbers break even harder against Iran once gas prices go up due to Iran's attacks upon other Gulf States and shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

People can dislike Iran to the nth degree, that doesn't make what the US and Israel are doing any better.

Also, public polling regarding something people have been marinated in propaganda about their entire lives is no path to finding any objective truth. Such polling is just manufactured consent.

Trump and Republicans are much, much more popular than Democrats. How have elections gone since Trump was elected? Someone is wrong.

That said, it feels like the market is giving America another chance. If we blow it in November, I expect the markets to be done with us.

even Iranians have a negative view of Iran.

But that doesn't mean we should have gotten involved in a war.

This from a Chicago Council-Ipsos survey conducted February 27-March 1, 2026:

79% of Americans are concerned about Iran’s funding of terrorist organizations,

76% of Americans are concerned about Iran's suppression of popular protests, and

75% of Americans are concerned about the possibility of Iran developing nuclear weapons,

meanwhile only:

49% expressed support for US airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities, and

39% said they would support using US troops to destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities

So, the vast majority of Americans specifically disfavor Iran due to the threat that nation poses both to its own people and those residing in other countries. But, half or fewer are willing to actually do anything about it. That's the kind of disconnect that gives rise to Trump doing whatever the hell he wants since - as he said during his now infamous 8 minute pre-recorded speech on February 28th "No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight. Now you have a president who is giving you what you want." These words referenced the Iranian people but were spoken to the American people.
