Trump Has Lost Working Class White Voters
March 17, 2026 at 8:17 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

G. Elliot Morris: “In our data, this group recalled voting for Trump by 22 points in 2024. But these voters now give him a net approval of -4 — or a 26-point swing against him.”

“The working-class whites who powered Trump’s rise are, for the first time, opposed to how he’s handling his job as president.

White working class is getting more dug in.

White collar Republicans, on the other hand, are giving up on Trump and the GOP. The Democrats will win the midterms in the suburbs and big cities. The white working class towns and small cities are gone.

And I’m talking about the people on this side of the fence who won’t accept the reality this is bad politics for him based solely on their own little anecdotal bubbles. There’s always some low info, low energy, intellectually lazy AF quip that is almost always utterly pointless. At least get some new lines, FFS.

have all fallen back on “what about?” arguments over the course of the past two months. Support for the war is rapidly declining, even among his own base, leaving only a small, unfortunate group to continue insisting it's a valid and rational course of action despite the reality that the village idiot is in charge.

unfortunately the term is partly a euphemism for racist, and he will not lose that segment. There wasn't much before, but after Hoover's Depression began (1929), there has been no reason for any member of the "white working class" to vote for a Republican; with Orange Caligula's beyond obvious evil, moreso. Some may think, i have gone too far writing that. I have not.

Reagan really did a number on our party. Remember "Reagan Democrats"? The Republican party and their friends in the media have somehow convinced many people to vote against their own economic self-interest. Is it all because of race?

Not all white men, but a lot of them are butt hurt that Democrats have been trying to level the playing field for people of color and women. Tsf tapped into their chest thumping rage, and their fear of becoming the minority. They don't want to loose their majority. Maybe they fear all the races and genders they helped suppress will turn the tables on them. It's funny how offended some of them act, when they are called racist or sexist, and they will deny it. Yet they aren't ashamed of themselves for their racist statements and actions.

I also include the women who love them. The ones who have the 1950s sitcom fantasies of being the perfect sweet little house wife who exists only to please her man, and let him make all those "hard decisions," so she feels "protected". 😒

29. David Corn, "American Psychosis":

"Reagan succeeded in winning 27 percent of the Democratic vote ... and he bagged 56 percent of the white vote, five points more than Ford four years earlier. Backlash politics appeared to have paid off for Reagan. Moreover, pollster Lou Harris found that 61 percent of white fundamentalist Protestants -- who had supported Carter by a two-to-one margin in 1976 -- voted for Reagan. This swing accounted for about two-thirds of the winning margin. 'Reagan would have lost the election by one percentage point without the help of the Moral Majority,' Harris observed.

"The Moral Majority and its New Right allies had delivered. They had not only appealed to the fears and resentments of many Americans; with their apocalyptic messaging accusing liberals and Democrats (and 'militant homosexuals,' educators, unions, the media, and others) of deliberately imperiling children, families, and the entire nation, they had encouraged these grievances and worries. They had ignited anxiety, dread, and suspicion -- to raise money and win elections."

That lot is just trying to follow the age old. military creed: CYA. (Cover Your Ass!)

They know he is not long for this world, and they are finally seeing that their 'messiah' is nothing of the kind. They are embarrassed and upset that he is not being enough of a racist here at home and he is not getting rid of 'the other' that is doing nothing more than actually contributing as opposed to the more... pasty... constituents who are trying to get rid of them.

They can sense what is coming. (At least what had damned well better be coming.)

Sorry, sycophants, you are part of the problem. The fact that you think we are going to just let you back into the society of human beings is pretty darn funny.

To quote Dredd: "Justice Time."

If that group sits out the midterms, will be a huge blue wave.

Especially if they stay home in Texas.

Taking a Senate seat in texas and potentially undoing the gerrymandered maps in texas alone make a huge difference towards true democracy
