Especially so in other countries. It's appropriate considering all the hate he dishes out to others.

would be hard to compare to Trump hatred and disgust. President Lincoln was obviously hated intensely in the treasonous south, even before he was elected. Still hated by MAGA and in the treasonous south today.

He was viewed as a buffoon and an ape by many in the north, including many in his own Cabinet. Douglas essentially said Lincoln wanted black men to sleep with white men's wives, the obvious next step after someday letting freed slaves vote.

He was hated so much that dozens of both serious and clownish attempts were made to kill him. And one attempt finally succeeded.

Obviously, the sheer numbers of people who hate trump -- globally not just in America -- far surpass the numbers who hated Lincoln. And we are led to believe, and I can't imagine how it could have been faked, that someone came within a smidge of blowing up his pumpkin head on TV.

I would imagine that people who hated Lincoln then, would on the most part approve of Trump today.
