If Graham Platner unseats Susan Collins, who will be left in the Senate to express deep concern?

US Senate hopeful Graham Platner wants Democrats to “deal with” the Supreme Court if they retake power in November and launch oversight and possible impeachments to remove justices from office.

Amid President Donald Trump’s historic unpopularity, Democrats are heavily favored to retake the House of Representatives and have gained momentum in the Senate, where Platner’s bid to unseat five-term incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) could prove decisive.

But the Supreme Court’s 6-3 conservative majority has the potential to effectively veto any significant actions a future Democratic Congress or president may seek to take, despite increasing doubts among the American public about its legitimacy and impartiality.

Its image as an independent arbiter of justice has come under further scrutiny as multiple justices have been embroiled in corruption scandals. This is where Platner believes Democrats could have options.

chances are real good that we have a whole host of 'other' things to worry about

(like people that don't 'understand' Nazi regalia n' stuff)

His town halls and rallies indicate he's drawing people from all sides, with a heavy emphasis on those who consider themselves independent, or disinterested in politics.

As for support here at DU, I've rarely seen any

I remember fans of another candidate from that same tree thinking he appealed to voters across the spectrum when, in fact, rightwingers only liked him because he caused a divide among the left that helped their MAGA candidates get elected.

Following his socials, reading articles about him

Maine's demographics include the largest elderly population in the US. They've also historically tended conservative in electing candidates.

If you factor in Trump distaste, the crap economy, Platner's massive commitment to town halls (50+ at this point), there may be a story there.

I am looking forward to the part of the story where the questionable candidate loses to the much more proven candidate and then complains about everything being """rigged""" against him.

We were quite blindsided when Fetterman changed. (Effects of stroke???)

With Platner, our eyes are wide open. I suspect we'll be okay, but we need to be on him (if he wins).

At this point, I’m not worried about Platner.

We know Mills is anti-labor, and pro-filibuster.

And apparently, so do Mainers, who are packing Platner’s town halls and rallies.

And of insubstantial import in my opinion. Dust in the Wind so to speak. Your concern however is understood and well taken.

She has remained a moderate voice in a deep red state, and has played ball with the Dems when a lot of others won't.

While we at DU would love for all of the states to be as progressive as we are, the reality is that I would take all of the Lisa Murkowskis I could get in states like Montana or the Dakotas ... or Alaska.

I don't think he's Fetterman (whose problems I still think stem more from his stroke than anything) but I am not sure yet what he is.
